Welcome to 7th Grade English!
This year in English, we will use various types of literature to learn more about ourselves and our world. Writing will also be a major focus in the 7th grade as we prepare for the state writing test in March. Below is a course description for you to use as you prepare for a successful year.
Students in the 7th grade develop a variety of skills—reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking and critical-thinking. Students read, respond to and analyze a variety of types of literature, including short stories, plays, poetry, non-fiction and novels. Students use the writing process to write narrative, expository, persuasive and descriptive texts, and deliver well-organized formal presentations.
