THE THIRD EXTRA CREDIT PROJECT: Due Monday, 1/11, 25 points max

Make a Moon Mission chart 
- search http://www.google.com/moon/ for a site that will give you a mosaic 
of landing site images and a tour of the Apollo moon landings.  Click to view 
the information in 3D.  Research other sites and books to find more 
information.
- For each moon mission find the following:
a) Mission name and number
b) Date launched
c) Date landed on the moon
d) Name of landing site
e) Purpose of mission
f) Any specialized moon equipment used, ie: Lunar Rover
g) Duration of time on moon
h) Date returned to Earth, splashdown point (if possible)
i) Name and position (ie: commander, pilot, etc) of astronauts on the mission

- get a piece of poster board, white or color is okay
- make a one inch border around your poster, you can leave it blank, color 
it, put stickers in it, draw, etc.
- make a title for your poster
- place an illustration/computer printout of the moon on your poster board
- identify each of the lunar landing sites with some type of color coded flag 
or label
- make a table showing all the information from a-i above
- your poster will be graded on neatness and accuracy
- keep your poster to the regular size poster boards you can get at the 
store, anything too big will not be graded

BAT label the parts of the sun
BAT to describe what type of star our sun is
BAT define what a star is
BAT define "nebula" and explain how it is a "stellar nursery"
BAT identify and use an HR diagram
BAT identify the difference between solar system, galaxy and universe
BAT identify the types of galaxies
BAT identify colors of stars and the relative temperatures of each ie:
hottest, coolest
BAT define the Big Bang and site evidence for it
BAT define magnitude
BAT tell the difference between illuminated and luminous objects
BAT to list in order from the sun the planets of our solar system
BAT identify planets by some of their more identifiable characteristics
BAT define and identify inner/terrestrial and outer/gaseous planets
BAT list and identify distances in space, ie: light years, AU, etc
BAT identify and define constellations
BAT tell the difference between fission and fusion and which reaction our sun
undergoes
BAT identify the stages of a stars life cycle
BAT define revolution and rotation as it pertains to orbits, etc.
BAT define and identify the celestial sphere and the coordinates on it
BAT identify a meteor, asteroid and/or meteorite
BAT identify the different types of telescopes used to view space
BAT define and identify moons
BAT use scientific notation
