Hello to all of my Fabulous Speech and Language Students! It's Here. . .My Favorite SEASON...FALL!! I hope you have a Wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and a fun week off of school! Try to fit a little practice in, with one of the activities that I have sent home! I am thankful for each one of you! As you know by now...this year I will not be at North Woods Discovery School. I miss seeing all of you there. Mrs. Woodman will be doing the speech-language therapy there. I will be serving the children at Redding School of the Arts, at both sites, and Monarch Learning Center. I have met all of my new students and am looking forward to meeting their parents. For my Speech Students: Practice your good speech sounds EVERY DAY. Pick a "daily key word" with your sound in it. Spelling words are great, because you will be saying them many times throughout the week. This way you can practice two things at once! Every time you say that word, focus on your sound. . . repeat it, 'fix' it, if you need to, and say it with your BEST SOUNDS. Remember that when you learn any new skill, a sport, a musical instrument, or lines in a play, PRACTICE helps you to improve. It's the same for your speech and skills. Correct practice leads to muscle memory for making sounds correctly! When you feel like doing nothing, do a little! Even 5-10 minutes is better than nothing! Doing 5 minutes of practice DAILY is better than doing 30 minutes once in a while. For my Language Students: Make some time once a week to play one of our online games with a friend, sister, brother, cousin, aunt, uncle, mom, dad, grandma, or grandpa. To play an online game, go to LINKS and click on #9 through #15 and play! Playing with a BUDDY makes it more fun! For all Students: If you have an iPod, go to this link to play a game and learn about keeping the volume of your earbuds at a safe level for your hearing. http://www.listentoyourbuds.org/game.php I am looking forward to seeing you in our class!
