Sent 12/15/2009 re: Practicing over Winter Break Dear Parents, I hope you enjoyed the concert. I thought the students played great. You should be very proud. Here is some information about the upcoming break. The 2 weeks of winter break can count as extra credit practice time for your student. To receive the most points students should practice each week. Please write on the top "Winter Break Extra Credit" in bold letters. Do not cut the sheet in half because the break is two weeks long and so is the sheet. Also this weeks practice sheet is due Friday. The students that say they will turn it in on Monday or Tuesday after the break will more than likely forget and receive no credit. Have a wonderful break and holidays. Musically yours, Adam Payne Sent 12/4/09 re: Symphonic Band Performance at December 8 School Assembly The Symphonic Band will be performing on Tuesday, December 8th (the day after the Winter Concert) at an all school assembly. This is a graded performance. It is very important that everyone is in attendance at the performance. The group does not play as well when performers are missing. They should be at school at 8:00 am. (in alternate uniform) Wear: Alternate uniform - polo shirts, black Dickie pants, marching shoes, black socks. If you have not purchased your black pants you must do it this weekend. Also the students will have time to change after the performance if they would like. For every missing piece of uniform (or music, or instrument) the student's grade will be lowered one letter grade for the performance. The students will be excused from A period, 1st, and 2nd period however you student is responsible to make up all work. The teachers have been sent this information along with Monday nights concert information. Sent 12/4/09 re: Band shoes and Uniform New Marching Band Shoes - If you ordered marching band shoes, your child should have brought them home today. If they didn't please remind your child to check the band room and bring them home. They need to have them for the Winter Concert on Monday. Booster Wear - For those who ordered, Booster wear was passed out to Beginning and Concert Band students today. Symphonic Band students will receive their things tomorrow (Friday) All marching band uniforms should be with you at home. Check with your student and make sure they have their uniform. Your student will need to wear the uniform for the Winter concert on Monday, so this weekend is a good time to hem the pants if you have not already done so. Remember DO NOT cut the pants to hem them. Sent 11/27/09 re: upcoming Winter Concert

Attached is a flyer from the Thousand Oaks High Band about this year's Middle School Night on Friday, November 13.
Please pre-register for this event. The TOHS band parents do all the planning and they need to know how many students to expect.
Note: This will probably be the last chance for a "live performance" extra credit paper this trimester. "How to write the paper " instructions are in the band handbook.
