I began my present position as an Regional Occupational Program (ROP)
Instructor of Automotive Technology for the Sacramento County Office
of Education (SCOE) in August of 1994. I held the same position for
ROP in Southern California.
I have more than 25 years experience in the field of
Automotive/Diesel Technology, much of which I gained while working
for the Los Angeles County Fire Department as a fire equipment
mechanic. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Vocational Education for
California State University - San Bernardino and am "ASE Master
Technician" certified. I also completed a Learning Handicapped
Crediential Program at California State University - Sacramento. In
addition,
I was named the 1999 "Teacher of the Year" for the Sacramento County
Office of Education. I was also "Teacher of the Month" for October 2005 for
KXTV News10, Sacramento, CA. On June 1, 2006 I was honored to receive
the "2005-2006 Esquire IMAX Theater News 10 Teacher of the Year Award".
My wife Judy and I have been married for 27 years and have seven
children. I taught at C.K. McClatchy High School for nine years and my
present location is at Elinor Lincoln Hickey High School ROP Auto Shop.
MISSION: The SCOE/ROP will develop and align resources to provide
innovative, meaningful & quality career experiences to lifelong
learners. Through these resources and experiences, students will
attain marketable skills and pursue postsecondary education in
preparation for work in the 21st century.
