St. Catherine of Siena
Welcome to the 1st grade! We have a very busy and exciting year in store
for us! My name is Jannette Wilkinson and this is my sixteenth year at St.
Catherine's and my third year of teaching 1st grade and I couldn't be more
excited. I graduated from Chapman University in 2007 with a BA in
psychology; I received my teaching credential from Chapman in 2008. Before
St. Catherine's, I taught pre-school for 14 years and I finally reached my
goal of teaching school-age children--I must say that I am loving every
minute of it!!
Teaching for me is more than just a career; it has to do with my love for
children and wanting to make a difference in their lives. I realize that
teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous
responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student
has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However,
I cannot do this alone: I need your help. We both need to be partners in
the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home
by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help
them study for quizzes, if necessary. Lastly, I think it is important for
students to not just receive a solid education, but to be in a classroom
with a teacher that is aware of and sensitive to their individual needs.
I believe I can be that person and I will always strive to be the best
teacher I can be.
