About The Teacher
Mrs. Gastelum: I am starting my 23rd year at St. Hedwig and still love it, like it was my first. I have been teaching in the Diocese for 32 years. I have been married to my loving husband, David for 34years and have a son,Michael (29yrs). My husband and I love short get-aways. This past year we traveled to the Cowboy Towns in Arizona -Tucson and Tombstone. During the summer we ventured up north to Monterey and worked our way down Hwy 1 through Big Sur, Pismo Beach and Santa Barbara. We love the ocean and my husband loves the photo opportunities. My loves outside my classroom are our dogs,Toby and Jordyn(bassett), scrapbooking and doing projects around the house I grew-up in. I have also taught 3rd and 5th grades at other schools. I love teaching First graders because it is so wonderful to see them grow so much in a short amount of time. Everyone learns at a different pace so it is something we get to see daily. My name is Miss Dana Gomez and I am so excited to be a part of the St. Hedwig Family! I was raised in West Covina, Ca and attended Catholic school for many years. I graduated from St. Christopher's K-8 school in West Covina and then St.Lucy's High School in Glendora, Ca. I recently graduated from Cal State Long Beach where I recieved my BA and multiple subject teaching credential. I love first grade and feel very blessed and honored to be a part of your children's lives! This year will be full of many fun and exciting things!
