4th GRADE CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR RULES: Follow directions first time given Stay in your seat unless given permission to move Raise your hand to speak Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself Work quietly and stay on task SCHOOLWIDE VIOLATIONS ( DISCIPLINE SLIPS) Showing disrespect to adults or other students Inappropriate behavior in classroom or playground Uniform violations (including hair length for boys) Missing homework/supplies Tardy CONSEQUENCES FOR BREAKING CLASSROOM / SCHOOLWIDE RULES: 1) In most cases, one verbal warning will be given 2) A discipline “slip” is given to student ( see sample attached) which will be sent home to be signed by parent 3) THREE discipline slips = a 30 or 60 minute detention with the principal (time duration depends on infraction) REWARDS: 1) For individuals : students earn raffle tickets to save up for monthly drawing from my “prize box” 2) For the class : the whole class earns “letters” that spell a special reward, such as “ PASTA” ( I cook an entire spaghetti lunch for them!), or “PJ DAY”, “VIDEO”, or even “GAMES” DIFFERENT WAYS REWARDS CAN BE EARNED: 1)Entering classroom quietly and following directions quickly. 2)Special effort on an assignment 3)Mass preparation and presentation 4)Helping or encouraging a classmate. 5)Being praised by other teachers for a good deed. 6)Modeling good manners (remembering to say, “ Good morning, Please, Thank you, and You’re welcome” 7)Being especially helpful to their “kindergarten” buddy.
