School Phone: (858) 755-1777
Email: aneddow@yahoo.com (best way to contact)
E-mail is always the best way to contact me. I read my e-mail often during the day and generally respond quickly. Feel free to e-mail me with quick questions or comments. Please check your e-mail frequently as I send out reminders and weekly announcements via email.
If you would like to talk in person about questions or concerns, please contact me to set up a meeting. I am usually available Tuesdays before school (7:45) and Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school (3:00).
In an effort to be earth-friendly, I will be sending out weekly announcements and class updates via email through our class website’s TeacherWeb newsflash feature. To add subscribers please see our class website at http://teacherweb.com/CA/SaintJamesAcademy/Ms_Eddow/newsflash1.aspx.
Saint James Academy Policies
Absences & Tardies:
· If students are tardy, they must be accompanied to the office and enter class with a tardy slip. Tardy slips will be sent home and must be signed and returned the next school day. After three tardies, students will receive after-school detention.
· In the event a family chooses to take a child out of school for a vacation, classwork or homework assignments may be given out ahead of time with proper notice, and if lesson plans have been finalized. All missed work is expected to be made up upon student’s return to school. Extra time will be allowed for make-up work.
Pick-Up:
· Students sign-out with teacher.
· Students wait on blue line to be picked up.
· Students will be sent to daycare after 3:00pm.
Student Behavior
- Students are expected to follow school rules and classroom rules.
1. Listen to the speaker.
2. Keep your body to yourself.
3. Be kind with words and actions.
4. Follow directions
5. Always do your best.
- Through positive reinforcement, such as complementing good behavior and using reward cards, I encourage students to make wise choices concerning appropriate behavior.

Every Kindergarten child will have one week to share his/her very special self with new kindergarten friends. Mom and Dad will need to help gather some of the items listed below and bring them to school the first day of their child’s V.I.P. week and collect them again on Friday.
Favorite clothes: soccer uniform, pajamas, costumes, etc.
Favorite stuffed animal
Favorite story book, music
Pictures, either duplicates or photocopies (these pictures will be included in the V.I.P. Book, so please send in pictures that we can keep).
A folder with picture holder paper will come home the Friday before your child’s V.I.P. week. V.I.P. sharing time will be at 10:05 (Monday-Thursday), and after Mass on Friday. Please let me know as soon as possible, if you need to trade with someone. I’m looking forward to learning more about all the Kindergarten V.I.P.s.

Birthdays & Sharing Days
Birthdays
The tradition at Saint James Academy has been for the birthday child to treat the class to a birthday book (this is optional). This book remains in kindergarten permanently. When the birthday child comes to school the day of his/her celebration, he/she brings the book wrapped and tied with a ribbon. A picture of your child can be pasted on the inside cover with their name and birthday date.
Students can also bring in a snack of their choice on their celebration day. If you choose to send in a snack for the class, please prepare individual servings. This is very helpful when serving so many eager young people.
Birthday/party invitations will be distributed in class, only if all students are invited (i.e. the entire class or all the boys/all the girls).
Sharing
Sharing helps students develop communication skills, confidence, and knowledge of the weekly letter. Students are offered a day to share something from home that begins with the letter of the week. Help your child come to school with clues about the object they have brought. Bring it concealed. A bag or shoe box works well. The list of assigned sharing days helps create a designated time for everyone to share. Only one item is allowed for sharing. The children are not allowed to play with their sharing object. In addition, sharing items cannot be weapons, or fighting toys (i.e. toy guns or war toys). Some ideas for sharing include: photos of an experience, a book, drawing, game, or food.
