Week 12
*November 20...6th Grade Mass
*November 23-27...No School/Thanksgiving Holiday
Don't forget there will be no school November 23-27 in honor of Thanksgiving.
This week away from school should be an opportunity for us to relax and
reflect upon the many things in our lives we are thankful for and so often
take for granted.
Please come to mass this Friday if you are available. Our class will be
sharing the readings and leading the choir.
THERE STILL IS TIME...If you haven't brought in your toiletries, please do so
by this Thursday. We will be decorating Thanksgiving bags and donating these
items to the needy families in our parish community. Items that are needed
are posted as an attachment on the News Flash page.
There will be a survey in this week's Wednesday folder regarding
transportation to Astro Camp. Please complete and return it by this Friday
if possible.
Our class will be taking a survey this Wednesday in the computer lab
about "bullying" If you wish, you can choose for your child not to
participate in this survey. Please inform Mrs. Lang or Mrs. Velasco if you
would prefer your child not be included. If you do not indicate your
preference, we will assume you have consented to include your child. The
information provided by the students will be analyzed and incorporated into
the anti-bullying program the school will be implementing.
REMINDERS
Check the assignment/homework page for daily assignments and
homework for the week. We do our best to inform you when changes to this
schedule are made via a newsflash, but sometimes do not. We do however
review the entire homework page with your child at the end of each day and
instruct them to make the changes on the hard copy that they should have
in their red homework folder.
The flu and illness continue to be a problem, not only at SJA, but in other
schools as well. We ask that if your child is sick, or is feeling ill,
please keep them home. Within the last 2 weeks, our class alone has averaged
2-3 students out on a daily basis. Doctors are highly recommending that you
get your children vaccinated this flu season, since young children and teens
are the hardest hit by the H1N1. We pray for the intercessions of St Blase to
keep us healthy.
On a final note, please pray for the Monroe family. Eric's grandfather
unexpectedly passed away this weekend. May his soul and the souls of all the
departed rest in peace.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Thank you, Lord of the Universe,
for all the gifts
you always offer me.
Thank you for all I receive:
for the water that washes me,
for the clothes I wear,
for the bread that sustains me.
For my dwelling and my parents,
for my sisters and brothers,
and for my friends.
For the knowledge gained from striving,
and for the toils of each day.
For the good mornings that have dawned upon me,
for the light that shines upon me,
and for the handshakes that link me to others.
For the time you have allotted me,
for the life you have offered me,
and for the blessings of each new day.
Thanks you for being with me, Lord,
for listening to me,
and for taking me seriously.
Thank you even for receiving today’s thank you.
Thank you, Lord, thank you very much.
Amen.
Have a great week.
Mrs. Lang
and
Mrs. Velasco
