Happy New Year and welcome back. We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas
holiday.
We ended 2009 with excitement and celebration.
As always, the Christmas pageant was the perfect way to end the year. The
musical gifts and talents shared by the students were absolutely AMAZING! A
special thank you to Mrs. Tastad and Mrs. Kalfayan for assiting the 6th grade
with rehearsals and costumes.
We also had fun sharing our "Secret Santa" treats and gifts. Not sure how
many really kept it a "secret" but it is always a fun way to celebrate this
time of year and show our appreciation for one another.
And...as the week came to a close we had a fun day of "Christmas Cheer."
Shaving cream, whip cream, bubble gum, cookie decorating and a lot of
homework passes. Whew!
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Casa De Amparo collection and
Mission Circle Epiphany Boxes. Your gifts of love and generosity are
definitely what Christmas should be about. It is through our "giving" that
we "receive."
Congratulations to the following students for winning the Geography Bee and
Spelling Bee elimination rounds. They will be representing our class in the
school competitions in January.
Geography Bee: Luke Hazel, Eric Monroe, Miles Loef, Taryn Tastad, Wyatt
Schmitt and Cole Mueller as alternate.
Spelling Bee: Eric Monroe, T.J. Gauscho, Olivia Mott, Wyatt Schmitt, Taryn
Tastad and Dana Dalton as alternate.
Astro Camp Update: Of the 14 families that responded to the survey, the
majority response was to take a bus. We will be contracting with a bus
company in January. After this step is completed, we will notify you and
collect payment for the bus and the remaining balance for Astro Camp.
REMINDERS
The end of the second quarter is just weeks away.
We are making some minor revisions in how classwork/homework will be assigned
and recorded. By the end of January, we will expect the students to write
down all assignments, homework, projects and due dates in their planners
which were given to them at the beginning of the school year. We will still
post the assignments on the website, but will not provide a copy for the
students at the beginning of each week. Our goal is for the students to
become more organized and responsible and assist them in transitioning into
the routine of junior high.
Please continually check your child's progress/grades on gradelink.
Last, but not least, as we begin 2010, let us remember all the wonderful
blessings that God bestows upon us every day and be thankful for His goodness.
A Prayer for the New Year
by Melissa Knoblett-Aman
Dear Heavenly Father,
As the dawn of this New Year begins, please help me to be enriched by every
new and precious moment. Draw me closer to you with each sunrise and every
sunset. Guide me to know your will for me. Help me to always say yes to you.
Walk with me every minute of every day. Carry me when times are tough. Help
me to always keep my eyes focused on you. Give me strength to make decisions
based on my faith in you.
Help me see the possibilities each new day brings. Give me the zeal and
anticipation of the New Year with every new month, new day, new minute, and
new second of my life.
O Heavenly Father, thank you. Thank you for the opportunities this New Year
has in store for me. Help me see the blessings, even in the roughest days.
Help me to always view your amazing creations with gratitude.
Thank you for the blessing of each sunrise and sunset, a mountain breeze, the
sound of a rushing waterfall, the warm sand underfoot along a beach. Thank
you for family, friends and companion animals. Thank you for all the doors
you open for me; even the ones I might not see at first. Thank you for the
many blessings you bestow upon me this year and every year.
I pray this in the name of your beloved Son, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Have a great week.
