EIGHTH GRADE NEWS
This is the third week of Advent. Peace,hope, and Joy to everyone!!!
"Look, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears me
calling, and opens the door, I will come in and share a meal at that person's
side." (Revelation 3:20)
During the season of Advent, my students and I will ponder all the doors we
travel through each day. As we journey, we will be mindful of the door of our
heart;of what needs to be opened or closed, received or given. We will let
each door we see, and pass through, also remind us of the doorway to our God
who dwells within our inner sanctuary.
High School News:
Visitation to the Catholic High Schools is complete. If a student wishes to
attend a Catholic High School, please visit that school's website to register
for the High School Placement Exam which will take place January 23 from
8:00am - 12:30pm. I highly recommend registering early.
If recommendation forms are available, please submit them only the week after
the placement exam.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER FROM CHRISTIAN BROTHERS HIGH SCHOOL:

Parental/Guardian Applications, Student Applications, and $40.00 registration
fee are due. Receipt of the applications and registration fee will register
your student for the placement exam. Please be sure to circle your student’s
correct T shirt size at the top portion of the application. We will have T
shirts available to all students who take the placement exam. Whether your
student has yet participated in a shadow day or not, we encourage you to take
advantage of utilizing Christmas break to complete your applications as this
is a perfect opportunity to do so.
Saturday, January 23, 2010
High School Placement Exam for Christian Brothers will be held at our
campus. Registered students are to arrive no later than 7:45 am on Saturday
morning. The test will begin at 8:00am and will end by 12:00pm noon. Please
bring two sharpened no. 2 pencils.

English Instructor Recommendation Letter, Math Instructor Recommendation
Letter, Principal/Counselor Recommendation Letter, and Transcripts are due
from your student’s present school. If you have not already delivered these
forms to your student’s present school, please do so in order to allow
sufficient time for completion.(PLEASE NOTE: SUBMIT FORMS TO MRS. ADAMS THE
FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY.) A notice will be sent out shortly after
February 3rd to notify any student’s of missing items needed to complete
their file.

Freshman enrollment night; Bring your completed enrollment forms and $625

Christmas Celebration:
The dessert social was a huge success. Thank you for the many, delicious
goodies.
CAN YOU HELP MR. WHITE?
To assist in compiling evidence for our WASC accreditation, I'd like to
collect photos of the many field trips and activities that 4th graders have
participated in over my 5 years at St. Mary's.
Field trips would include: Sutter's Fort; the California Indian Museum:
Nimbus Hatchery; Fog Willow Pumpkin Farm; the Cathedral of the Blessed
Sacrament; Black Chasm Cave; Indian Grinding Rock State Park; and the Effie
Yeaw Maidu Field Day. (I have plenty of the Adobe field trip already).
Class & school activities would include: basket making; light stick sales;
cooking projects; parties; etc.
If you have any photos I can use or make copies of, please set them aside and
send them in as soon as possible after we return to school on Jan. 4 (my 41st
wedding anniversary!). Thanks so much.
