Lent

2/26/12 - 4/5/12

Lent is supposed to be a time of penance and self sacrifice for all of us. Weekly, in my classes with the children, we will be working on some of the most difficult forms of self sacrifice. During Lent we will be finding ways to be more supportive to and tolerant of one another and our families. It is a time for the children to be patient with their siblings and to not argue with their family members (that means their parents as well). We will be working on keeping our thoughts positive, learning not to whine as often, to not ask for anything new, and willingly offering to help around the house. I am also encouraging them to recognize that adults have feelings and to remember to ask their parents or grandparents how their day was and if they need any help. This is not easy for them or for myself. They will tell you that I often fail at my attempts to not whine and to be patient, but we will continue to try and permeate all of our actions with kindness.

1/23/12 - 2/10/12

I will be working with the classes to prepare for the upcoming visit from the Accreditation Team and what it will mean for them as students of St Rose School. I will still teach my normal curriculum about the ways they can continue to respect each other and their families.
