             Social Studies

	During the coming year we will be covering many interesting and 
exciting topics in our Social Studies Class. I hope all students have a 
rewarding and intellectually stimulating experience.

Curriculum
	The curriculum for my Social Studies program is aligned with the 
California State Standards. You can find these standards at the California 
Department of Education website. I will teach all of the standards at some 
point during the school year. We will also be studying current events in the 
classroom. 

Instructional Materials
	We will be using the new Holt Social Studies book in class.  I will 
also be using an Atlas program.

Student Supplies
	I would appreciate each student having the following:
1.	Pencils  2. blue or black ink pens 3. hand held pencil sharpener
4. highlighters  5. colored pencils   6. mini 3 hole punch


Grading
	A+  =    100%                    
	A    =   90-99%                   	
        B    =   80-89%                	
        C    =   70-79%                
	D    =   55-69%                   	
        F     =   0-59                                                      .
