Mrs.Jang is the Coordinator of the Washington Union School District Art Docent
Program, a standards based art instruction program for students grades K-8,
taught by trained art volunteers. Mrs. Jang holds a B.A. in Architecture and
practiced commericial architecture and interior design for 18 years. She has
been involved in our Art Docent Program for 9 years, teaching and training
hands-on art projects, chairing the Art Show and being on the Art Docent Board.
Mrs.Jang oversees the district's Art Docent Program (which is based around
California Visual and Performing Arts Standards) for grades K - 8. She
coordinates with the district's teachers and art docent volunteers to create a
situmulating and creative art program for of our students.
The Mission of the Art Docent Program is to help all the students of the
district develop artistic perception and skills, a knowledge of the elements
of design, and the ability to discuss and think critically about art history
and aesthetics. The California Visual and Performing Arts Framework outlines
five main areas of curriculum: Artistic Perception, Creative Expression,
Historical and Cultural Context, Aesthetic Valuing, and Connections and
