If you have accepted a substitute teaching job at the EdCenter/Taft, you may
find the following information useful.
You will actually be teaching at Kings River High School, which is the
continuation high school for Sanger Unified, although the subcaller system
indicates the job is at Taft. Both schools are on the campus of the Ed Center.
A recent substitute at Kings River offers this reflection on his experience at
the school:
"Dear Mr. Church:
I wanted to write and express the positive experience I had as a substitute
teacher [last week]. I have had teaching experience in four local districts
and rarely found such a cooperative and inviting staff and student body.
The first impression of a school and the true driving force of an
institution are often found in the front office. The friendly, informative,
and helpful staff in the [Kings River] front office started every day great
and ended on a posititve note, making each day at work seem like a day with
friends.
[The teacher] had organized lesson plans that were guiding, yet not
constricting...You and Jose both stopped in on my classes without interupting
the lesson and often positively interacted with students about the current
material. The teachers gathering outside in the common area pleasantly
iterrupted the usual beeline home after work. I have seldom experienced such
camaraderie between teachers that was also inviting.
The student's behavior reflected a high standard for discipline and quality
of staff. [The teacher's] dedication to his students is shown by the respect
that I was shown each day. Over the course of four days there were only two
occasions where I had to talk with a student.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience and I look forward to working
with the staff and students of [Kings River] in the future."
Sincerely,
