Students that have excused absences must make up the time and work
they missed. To be excused does not mean that you were excused
from doing the work you missed during your absence.
This is a make-up assignment if you were absent during a regular
school day.
1. Watch a news segment on channels 21, 24, 26, 30 or 47.
2. Write a two paragraph report on what the story was about, who the
target audience was, who was the reporter and what type of camera
shots they used during the taping of the story (single shot, double
shot, over the shoulder shot, creative shot etc.).
3. Write a paragraph explaining if the story was an evergreen story
(a story that can air anytime of the year) or was it a dated story (a
story that is tied to a specific time or date).
If you were absent during a block day, do two stories from two different
television channels.
Students that were absent multiple days:
You are to do four stories to cover three days of regular schedule.

Watch 'King Kong' the 50's version and write a three page paper on this
production/movie. The paper must be written in paragraphs using the

that apply to essay writing.

B. What is the setting of the story.
C. Why do you think this film was produced?
D. What is the narrator trying to communicate to the viewer?
E. Is there a story behind this production?
F. What is the conflict that exists in this film? Man vs. Man, Man vs.
Nature, Man vs. Beast etc. Explain in complete detail.
G. What is the climax of the story?
H. What is the ending of the film?
I. Give your personal opinion regarding this film.
Assignment for two Block Schedule days:
Preview 'Planet of The Apes' and follow the previous assignment format.
1953 Production of 'WAR OF THE WORLDS' was previewed during the
week of November 13th. Your assignment is to preview 'War Of The
Worlds' (2005) version and do the following:
A. Describe the main characters in this film.
B. What is the setting of the story.
C. Why do you think this film was brought to the screen again?
D. What is the story line?
E. What is the climax of this story?
F. What is the conflict that exists in this film? Man vs. Man, Man vs.
Nature,
Man vs. Beast etc. All explanations must be in paragraph form and use
as many examples as you can.
G. What is is the ending?
H. The 1953 version was different than this version. Has our current
society influenced how this movie was produced? Explain and give
examples from the movie and book to support your argument.
I. Give your personal opinion regarding this film.
J. Submit three movie reviews from the internet.
Personal Field Trip Assignment:
A. Visit a local television station and observe their news production. Write
a two page paper on the experience you had during your visit. Visit with
the anchors, directors,
and camera people if possible. Make a list of five questions that you
will ask them: anchors,
producer, director, camera people etc. (do at least three interviews).

Twelve Weeks-"Make-up Test"
Write a three page narrative paper on how to make your favorite dish or
pastry. For example, how to make a German Chocolate Cake, the
ultimate ham sandwich, menudo or whatever your stomach desires. Make sure
that
you take the reader through step 1, step 2, step 3 etc. of how to make that
dish or
pastry. If you were in the studio, you would shoot it on tape.
This assignment is due the day after you return to school

Forced Perspective Project
1. Go to google.com and preview some of the forced perspective projects that
are on-line. You may want to read regarding the forced perspective concept
and what is needed to produce your own project. 2. Write a story that is
half page to three quarters long for a forced perspective project. You may
want to start your story with: Once upon a time there was a tiny, tiny
_____that lived in the middle of a jungle of a lawn. 3. Transfer the story
to a storyboard(storyboard will be needed before taping your project). and
4. Produce your 1.5 minutes to 2.00 story using the forced perspective
concept.
