After years of anticipation, we are proud to announce the opening of the new
JOHN WASH LIBRARY! This beautiful and spacious resource is the envy of many
Sanger schools. Treat yourself to a visit- you will not be disappointed. The
teachers are very excited to have the new library available, and we hope you
will join us in enjoying it.

We will continue to use the Accelerated Reader program in the classrooms. The
library has over two thousand books for use with the program. However, you can
also check out the books from the public library or pick them up at a
bookstore. If you need to check if a book is in our AR program, you can look
it up in the complete list.
Finally, we hope to soon have access to the library catalog through the school
server and over the Internet. However, the only way to access the books right
now continues to be browsing the stacks. To make your searching more
profitable, it is best to understand the Dewey decimal system. The LILI
site has a wonderful tutorial on how these numbers work.

Resources
John Wash students have access to a range of electronic resources through the
Fresno County Office of Education Web portal, MyFCOE
Portal. These include traditional text databases, streaming video
presentations, and a number of Web resources. These can be used for student
research, as well as other enrichment activities. For student login
information, please check with your classroom teacher or see the librarian.
Students and parents are encouraged to supplement the materials available from
the school library with resources held by the Fresno
County Public Library. In addition to their ample holdings, the public
library also provides access to a range of electronic and Web resources. These
