Walk-Through Registration Packets
Walk-through registration packets will be mailed home to all students the week of July 28th. Included in the packet will be all the information regarding the start of school and the beginning of the year required forms such as emergency cards, SUSD information requests form, etc. Parents need to complete the required forms, including all signatures. These forms need to be brought to Walk-through Registration (see below). If your child is registered at WAMS and you do not receive a walk-through registration packet in the mail, please come into the WAMS office beginning Monday, August 4th.

Walk-Through Registration
All students are required to participate in Walk-Through Registration. Walk-Through Registration is on the following dates:

8th Grade: Wednesday, August 13th, 5:00-8:00 p.m., West Gym

6th & 7th Grade: Thursday, August 14th, 5:00-8:00 p.m., West Gym

Walk-Through Registration is designed to have all students submit all their required forms prior to school and pick-up their class schedule. It also serves as a convenient “one-stop” process to having students and parents begin the year prepared.

Students need to bring their completed registration packet, including all required signatures. It is strongly recommended a parent accompany the student. Students will turn in their required forms and receive their class schedule. Students will not be allowed to pickup their class schedule if they do not have all the required forms completed. All prior financial obligations will need to cleared prior to receiving class schedule.

The following will also be available during Walk-through Registration:

• Purchase PE Clothes and lock (7th & 8th grade students only). Special Note: Due to security, all WAMS students will be required to purchase a WAMS registered Master combination lock.

• Planners/Binders – All WAMS students are required to purchase a WAMS planner. Binders (2” 3-ring) with dividers and a pencil pouch will also be on sale for your convenience. Parents may choose to purchase a binder at your local store, but it must be at least a 2” 3-ring binder.

• WAMS Spirit Wear (t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, lanyards, etc.) will be on sale.

• Transportation schedules and route maps will be available.

• Yearbooks will be on sale at a discounted rate.

• School nurse will be on site to discuss any health/medication issues.

• WAMS PTA will be accepting memberships.

• SUSD after-school program will be there to answer any questions and accept applications.

• WAMS Athletic Director (Allyson Niino) will be on site to answer any athletic questions.

It is our hope that Walk-Through Registration will provide both students and parents all the needed information and materials to begin the 2008-09 school year smoothly. The administrative team will be there to answer any questions. Please mark your calendar for the appropriate evening.

Athletic Physicals & Eligibility
All WAMS athletes and SUSD 4th-6th grade football athletes are required to have a sports physical prior to participating in any practice, including tryouts. WAMS will be offering sports physicals on Wednesday, August 6th from 6:30-8:30 in the west gym. The cost is $10 with all proceeds going to the WAMS athletic program. These physicals are for 4th - 8th grade S.U.S.D. athletes only. All physical forms for non-WAMS 4th-6th grade athletes will be collected and sent to their school. Completed forms will not be returned to the athlete the night of the physicals.

All S.U.S.D. athletes trying out or participating on the WAMS teams must meet the following eligibility requirements:

- Completed Parent Consent/Physical Form submitted to the WAMS Athletic Office prior to any practice, including tryouts. (All 6th grade WAMS teams, except football, do not require a sports physical)

- Students must have proof of insurance. School insurance is available to be purchased if necessary.

- S.U.S.D. Code of Ethics to be signed by both the student athlete and parent[s].

- All student athletes must be in GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING. Athletes must earn a GPA of 2.0 and pass all their core classes (language arts, math, science, and social studies) each trimester. Athletes who fail to earn a GPA of 2.0 and pass all their core classes in a trimester will be placed on ACADEMIC PROBATION for the following trimester, but will be considered in GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING allowing them to participate. Athletes who fail to earn a GPA of 2.0 and pass all their core classes for two consecutive trimesters will be ACADEMICALLY INELIGIBLE and will not be allowed to participate. Each school establishes policy for students who fail a core class. If students fail a core class, the rectification of the failing grade could prevent the student from participating. Students will remain ACADEMICALLY INELIGIBLE until the athlete earns a GPA of 2.0 and passes all their core classes in a trimester. Grades and GPA requirements carry over from the previous year. Special Note for Fairmont, Quail Lake, and Sanger Academy athletes: Each athlete's eligibility status will be determined by your site principal. Each site principal will provide WAMS with an eligibility list prior to the start of every season. Any questions regarding your eligibility should be directed to your site principal.
