Meeting Regarding 8th Grade Promotion
All
Parents Encouraged To Attend
Dear
WAMS Parents & Students,
The
state of California is experiencing very difficult economic times. As a
result, the budget for schools has been greatly reduced, including Sanger
Unified School District. As we worked through the process of balancing our
budget with increased deficits, the Sanger Unified Governing Board adopted a
budget that included several cuts. One of the items cut from the budget was
the district funding of all eighth grade promotional ceremonies.
As
a result of this cut, the responsibility for funding any possible eighth grade
promotional ceremonies falls on the responsibility of the school. In other
words, if WAMS wants to have an 8th grade promotional ceremony, the school
must fundraise the money. No district money can be spent on the 8th grade
promotional ceremony. WAMS PTA and I have already met and the PTA is fully
endorsing any efforts to fundraise to maintain the 8th grade promotional
ceremony.
I
would like invite all WAMS parents to a informational and planning meeting on
Monday, October 26, 2009 at 6:30 in the WAMS auditorium. I will be presenting
all the pertinent information about 8th grade promotion, including how much
money we need to fundraise, along with various factors that must be
considered. Following my presentation, we will work to form committees and
develop initial plans to raise the needed funds.
Sanger
is a wonderful city and WAMS families have always been extremely supportive. I
want to encourage you to talk to your neighbors and friends who have students
at WAMS and encourage them to attend this meeting. I want to especially
encourage our 6th and 7th grade parents to get involved, even though it does
not directly affect them this year. I truly believe if we rally together, we
can make 8th grade promotion happen.
I
would like to thank you in advance for your support and look forward to seeing
you on Monday, October 26th at 6:30.
Sincerely,
Jon
