Message from the Principal
Welcome to Washington Academic Middle School (WAMS). We are a 6th-8th grade middle school of approximately 1700 students. WAMS is located in Sanger, California, approximately 12 miles southeast of Fresno. We have a dynamic staff of educators that love teaching and are committed to the success and well being of every student. WAMS will be moving from “Early Release to “Late Starts” on the Wednesdays listed below. On these days, buses will pick up students approximately two hours later (see bus schedules). On Late Start Wednesdays, students may arrive on campus after 9:30. School begins at 10:10.
I am also excited to announce the implementation of the Olweus Anti-Bullying program. All staff will be working closely the students to educate students on bullying and positively impacting the school culture. We are also beginning the 6th grade orientation/mentoring program called W.E.B. (Where Everybody Belongs). Over 90 8th grade leaders will be working with our 6th graders to ensure a successful transition to middle school. WAMS has an extremely effective staff dedicated to helping the students succeed. We look forward to a great school year. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the school.
Sincerely,
Jon Yost
