Born and raised in Ohio, I graduated from Bowling Green State University with
a BS in Mathematics and French. After working for several years at a Canadian
insurance company, I quit my job and joined the Peace Corps. I began my teaching career at the
CEG-2 in Abomey, Bénin where I taught high school math in French.
I received my MA in Education from San Francisco State University. I have
taught most math courses from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus, and even French 1. Most recently I worked
as a Math Specialist through UC-Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science, coaching middle school and
high school math teachers in the Bay Area. I was also a math instructor at Verbal Judo
Learning Studios in Burlingame, CA.
Although I like sports, I prefer to watch them in person, unless it's the Steelers, the Tribe, or the
Buckeyes. I do not own a car and haven't for over a decade. I like to read,
run, bake cookies, sew and sit at the beach--which I did pretty much all summer!
I love to travel and have visited over 30 countries so far.
