Dear Auntie Jane and Uncle Trevor,
I hope you and all of the family are well and that you have had a great year. We have had a tumultuous 2008, what with the kids leaving home, the dogs running away, and the house getting washed away by the hurricane. Phew, this is a year never to forget!
Both of the boys went to college this year. Johnny went to UCSB where he is studying medieval sword fighting. David went to Alaska State College to learn about car mechanics. They are both doing very well, even though David burnt down his dormitory last week. He hopes to be out of County Jail in time to be home for the holidays.
Fido and Douglas, the family dogs, went on trips of their own this year. Fido announced that due to the poor quality of dog food, he was running away to Brazil. I hear he has settled down there very well, and is now dating a samba dancing Chihuahua called Eileen. Douglas however was not so fortunate, as he only got to the end of the yard before being run-over by an ice-cream van. We miss them both very much.
Our new home is quite cozy, and remarkably warm, considering it is actually a tent. The old house got washed away to Texas in the storm. We hear it is now in Dallas and being lived in by 2 rodeo riders and their horse named Bill. We miss the old place very much. We hope to be out of our tent real soon, as it is getting rather cold as the holiday season approaches!
As you can see, this has been quite a year. We are looking forward to having the kid’s home for Christmas dinner, although the $1,000,000 bail for David might be a problem. We haven’t told the kids yet about the dogs, and that their bedrooms are in Texas and being lived in by a horse. It promises to be an interesting holiday! We look forward to seeing you soon,
Love
Sarah, John and the kids
P.S. If you come and visit you will have to bring your own tent
