This is my 5th year at Santa Ynez Valley Charter School. Previous to this I worked as a teacher in Santa Barbara, and before that in Ojai. In all I have been an educator for 20 years - 10 in the UK as a Physical Education Teacher, and 10 here in the USA teaching everything from 2nd Grade to Middle School Math. I am married with 2 children, Charlie, 5, and Lily 3. We live in Santa Barbara on West Beach, and very much enjoy living close to the ocean. My interests are soccer, playing piano, cycling and soccer. (I know, I put soccer twice!) We spent the summer here in Santa Barbara. Charlie did a number of camps, and we took a summer vacation for 10 days to Tuolomne meadow. I look forward to being here at SYVCS for many years to come. Martin Cook

It is in my power, every day, to help students see that education in all of its manifestations is the gateway to success in life.
