News: In Social Studies this week, we are finishing Unit 4 – Life in the Colonies. Students are working on
team tasks and expert groups this week and filling out our process grid. The final test will be
Wednesday, December 16th. We are taking a break from the states this week, but will continue with the
Statesmanship #1 test when we return from break.

This week in Math we will start with review for the Chapter 5 test. Tuesday
there will be review for both Chapter 5 and Chapter 4 in order to be prepared for the retake. I feel that
since Chapter 5 uses the skills from Chapter 4, most retakes will reflect the practice they have had the
last few
weeks. Depending on how well they are doing with the review, their test will either be Wednesday or
Thursday. Students need to pick up review worksheets on the side counter for the skills they are
struggling with and don't forget that they can utilize the website for extra help/practice. The
website is ca.gr5math.com.

This week we will finish reading Bridge to Terabithia in class. We will review the book on Wednesday.
Students will take the comprehension and vocabulary test for the book online (through Accelerated
Reader) in the computer lab either on Thursday or Friday. We will watch the movie this Thursday in
class. The final draft for the Response to Literature will be due on Wednesday.
Parents: There is a notice coming home today about dental sealants. I need one returned stating “yes”
or “no” as to whether or not you’d like your child to receive the sealants. Please remember to check
your child’s planner every night. You can call homework hotline for verification as well, 771-1815
x118. They need to get their homework completed and turned in on time. If you have a quick question
feel free to email or call. My email is: mcorr@rcsdk8.org.
