Mrs. Sigrist’s Fourth & Fifth Grade News

Parent Volunteers

Thank you for the overwhelming number of parent volunteers. I plan to have all of you coming in throughout the year to help out in the classroom.

Upcoming Events

- 4th and 5th Grade students will be embarking on a mission to Mars as we travel to the Discovery Museum for our field trip. The field trip will be on October 29th, 2009. Your child must be present at school by 7:45 AM for us to leave on time for our field trip. We will be arriving back to school around 12:30 in time for us to eat lunch.

- We will be having a holiday party on October 30th, 2009 from 11:15 – 12:30ish. We will be playing games and eating lunch. You are welcome to join us and take part in the festivities. You might also want to stay for the Halloween parade that will be taking place at 1:15 around the school. Students will be provided Subway donated by Mrs. No and Mrs. Arnould. If you would like your child to not particpate in eating the lunch that is provided, they can eat a sack lunch that you provide or hot lunch from school. They are aware that some students in the classroom are vegetarian.

- 4th Grade Parents, I am still waiting for Reserve America to release the 2010 dates for our field trips. I am still planning on scheduling our field trips to the Railroad Museum and Sutter’s Fort in January. As soon as I know more information, I will be happy to let you know.

Upcoming Projects

- 4th Grade students are reading Island of the Blue Dolphins right now rather than their Language Arts textbooks. There will not be any Practice Book pages due for the next couple of weeks.

- 5th Grade students have begun reading Where the Red Fern Grows rather than their Language Arts textbooks. There will not be any Practice Book pages due for the next couple of weeks.

- We will be working on assessments for Math and Language Arts over the next couple of weeks in order to prepare for conferences. We will also be reviewing concepts and focusing on writing. Therefore, you will notice that over the next couple of weeks, the weekly schedule will be updated on a daily basis for most subjects other than just for Math.

Reminders

Parents please don’t forget to get check Thinkwave for your children’s grades and the homework page on my website to see what we are working on in the classroom.
