          Upon completion of Pre Kindergarten the child should have mastered the following subject matter.

  Language Arts:

Reading Readiness:

. Identify lower and upper case letters
.Know the sound for all constant letters
. Demonstrate appropriate words for the sound of the letter b = (bake)

Writing:
. Print all lower and upper case letters
. Write first and last name
. demonstrates dictation skills of the letters given
. Can set up paper for dictation

Math Readiness:

. Recognize numbers 0 - 20 (possibly further if ready)
. Dictation of numbers set up on paper
. Oral counting 1-1 correspondence
. Grouping various number of objects
. Missing numbers (3, _, 5)
. After and before concept (preparing them for adding and subtracting in kindergarten
Patterns and sequencing

Religion

Pre Kindergarten attends weekly mass with their classmates. The children are given a tour of the church at the beginning of the year and taught about the different items in the church. Each week we have a different doctrine that we focus on and discuss and role play. The children are exposed to the prayers that will be taught in detail in the kindergarten. Pre Kindergarten has a prayer leader for each week and this child helps to lead morning, snack and lunch prayer. There is a special prayer table in the classroom where the children can see throughout the day.

The children learn to work cooperatively in small learning groups. When they are finished with their seat work they have activity time where they can choose from a variety of educational items to work on individually or with another classmate.

Pre Kindergarten is the ideal transition program leading into our kindergarten.
