Mystery ReaderBeing a Mystery Reader is a fun and interactive way for parents or other family members to experience a bit of life in our 1st grade classroom. The goal is for a member or friend of each child’s family to read a book to the class at some time during the course of the year. I read to the children each day after lunch and now you can become a part of this activity on Wednesdays. Family names have been assigned to certain dates, which will hopefully allow plenty of time to plan for someone from your child’s family to be here. By not knowing exactly who will be reading the story for the day only adds to the excitement and joy of reading. So, please do not share with your child who will be coming. The week before the scheduled visit, the Mystery Reader should send in 5 facts about him or herself that can be used as clues and read aloud to the class before the Mystery Reader arrives. Clues might include:
After each fact, children may try to guess the reader. The name is not revealed until all the clues have been read. Each Mystery Reader should on the allocated day, arrive at school by 12:30 P.M., check-in at the school office, and proceed to the classroom.
Our lunch ends at 12:40, at which time the children return to the classroom where you will be waiting with your favorite children's book! Please plan on spending 20 to 30 minutes with the children.
