Our Wonderful Aides

Mrs. Perata

Mrs. Perata has worked as a teacher's aide at St Charles School for 9 years. In addition to those duties, she is also a teacher at Trinity Presbyterian Pre-School and a flight
attendant for Delta Airlines (flying weekends
and all-nighters). After graduating from Holy
Names College with a history major and
psychology minor, she decided to stay in the
climate-perfect Bay Area. She loves living in
San Carlos in the home designed and built by
her husband Steve. They have two children,
Kyle and Kerrie.

My career at St. Charles School began in
1978, as a mother. My oldest son, Gary,
entered first grade and two years later his
brother Michael entered Kindergarten. St.
Charles' community was a wonderful
experience it was only natural that I along
with my husband Dan became quite
involved. While Dan was athletic director (8
years) I became active in several different
areas such as hot lunch mom, yard duty,
office help, along with many fundraisers. I
then became a classroom volunteer focusing
on Math.

Our newly established library of one year
needed someone to be in charge so I
became the librarian. I soon was approached
by a nearby school in Belmont and was hired
by The Charles Armstrong School (school for
dyslexics); it was there I realized the
importance of phonics and reading. When a
teacher's aide position opened at St. Charles
I applied and was soon hired as an aide for
Kindergarten and First Grade. Returning back
to St. Charles was a dream come true. Two
years later I became Kevin Oliver's full-time
aide and the rest is history. I have been with
Kevin for over 23 years and my focus has
always been in phonics and reading.

Kevin has been a great mentor to me. He has
shown me not only the enthusiasm and
excitement that comes with teaching
children but also the importance of a first
grade education, the very foundation of
academic growth.
