Bring a student calendar planner to each technology class- organizational
skills.
-
Bring a Flash drive for projects when instructed to do so. ALL FLASH DRIVES
HAVE TO BE CHECKED FOR VIRUSES.
All 6th graders are responsible for learning
their keyboarding skills. The sixth grade goal for the year is 98% or higher
in accuracy with 25 words per minute (WPM). Homework for the whole year in
keyboarding is to practice 10 minutes a day for five days out
of the week. This practice is so important for the student to grow in
performance. UltraKey tests assess student performance in keyboarding skills.
On the report card, one of the technology indicators is "demonstrates skills
taught". Please take this seriously because there will be at least 2 UltraKey
tests per trimester that are part of the technology grade. Next year the goal
increases to 98% accuracy
with 30 WPM for 7th graders.
When practicing UltraKey for homework always do a
lesson first and then go to skill check to evaluate your skills with 1
paragraph, 2 paragraphs, 3 paragraghs and then the entire passage. Work
on accuracy first and then the WPM will
come.

Using the correct homerow finger positions is part
of the grade. The student needs to memorize the keyboard and not to look down
at the fingers while typing.
