6TH GRADE TECHNOLOGY

6th Grade Technology
2009-2010

Keyboarding skills require that 6th grade students know the entire keyboard, including symbols. Students are required to practice their keyboarding at home using a typing program. I have included a web-based program on my webpage, but you are at liberty to take a look around the internet to find some age appropriate free programs for Jr. High Students.

The schedule for 6th grade is divided with the Spanish program. Students will be in the Computer Lab learning basic skills from Mrs. Armstrong 2 times a week. Monday & Tuesday is Group A: Wednesday & Friday is Group B. On Thursday's all of the class will have Spanish class in the Language Arts Room with Senora Blum.

Throughout the year, students will integrate technology lesson plans with other teachers. A good example is when students design a newspaper that implements historical events from the 6th grade History curriculum. Collaboration of the objectives are planned with Mrs. Armstrong and the instructor.

Students should be prepared for every class. Homework planners and the Computer Binder should always be brought to class. Homework should be written into their planners and long term assignments will be posted on Mrs. Armstrong's webpage. The class contracts have been sent home for signatures and an overview of class guidelines.

I am looking forward to teaching computer skills to 6th grade Jr. High Students. Please email me for any concerns or drop into the computer lab for a visit.
