7th Grade Technology
2009-2010
Keyboarding expectations for 7th grade is that students can type 22 words per
minute at the end of the year. Leaving 6th grade, students were required to
type 18 wpm. Students are required to practice their keyboarding skills at
home twice a week using a formal typing program. On my webpage, there are
links to web-based programs. There are many free programs on the internet.
Make certain to find an age appropriate program for Jr. High School students.
The Computer class is divided in half with the Spanish program. Students will
have computer's twice a week, and Spanish three times a week. The schedule is
as follows:
Monday & Tuesday is Group A
Wednesday & Thursday is Group B
On Thursday's Senora Blum will teach the entire class in the Language Arts room.
Throughout the year, students will integrate technology lesson plans with
other teachers. Mrs. VanderHaeghen's Literature class is scheduled once a
week to the lab for integrated lesson plans. Objectives of the lesson plans
are literature and technology based. Some examples are creating timelines
for historical fiction novels, internet research of authors, formatting of
student literary summaries, etc.
Students should be prepared for every class. Homework planners and the
Computer Binder should always be brought to class. Homework should be written
into their planners and long term assignments will be posted on Mrs.
Armstrong's webpage. The class contracts have been sent home for signatures
and an understanding of the class guidelines.
I am looking forward to teaching computer skills to the 7th grade Jr. High
students. Please email me for any concerns or drop by the computer lab for
a visit.
