Sharing: For sharing this week, please have your child share something about their favorite animal.  They can draw a picture of it, bring in a picture, bring in a stuffed animal, bring in a story about their animal, use a website, etc.

Daily Homework: For homework tonight, please have your child complete the life cycle of a sea turtle worksheet.

Literature Day:  This Wednesday, May 23rd at 11am we will celebrate Literature Day in Kindergarten!  Students should come to school dressed as their favorite literary character.  We will also have a special treat when author Danna Leahy comes to read and sign her beautiful books just for us.  After she reads to us, we will have a special feast that will include some foods we’ve encountered in stories we have read this year.  If you are able to help bring something to the feast, please contact Christy Fernando by tonight at jcfern@comcast.net.  We only have two volunteers for the feast and we really need your help to make this a fun day for the kids!  Here are some ideas:

1.    Pancakes (If You Give a Pig a Pancake)

2.    Spaghetti and Meatballs (Cloudy with a Chance of             Meatballs)
3.    Bananas (Curious George)

4.    Hot Chocolate (Polar Express)

5.    Cookies (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie)

6.    Fruit (The Very Hungry Caterpillar)

7.    Cheesy Snacks (Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse)

8.     Muffins (If You Give a Moose a Muffin)

9.     Mini Donuts (If You Give a Dog a Donut)

10.   Pink Cupcakes (Pinkalicious)

Graduation: Kindergarten Graduation is on June 7th at 5 pm in the gym. Please note the time change from the printed school calendar.  Please make sure your child is in the classroom no later than 4:30.  There will be a short reception following the graduation ceremony.  The children should be in nice free dress.  You are more than welcome to bring any family and guests that you would like.

Library:  We are missing many library books.  Please check around at home to see if your child has any of the school library books and return them as soon as possible.  Thank you!

Last Day of School:  Friday June 8th is an optional day of school for Kindergarten.  The children may come to school and attend mass, they may go with you to mass or they can stay home.  They will not be marked absent if they are not at school this day. That being said, we would love to have them and we think it would be nice for them to be there for the end of the school year mass.

Raz-Kids Homework: Each Thursday night Raz-Kids is assigned for homework.  We want them to login and use the website, but the children can choose what to do on the site.  They can read stories, record them, take quizzes or any combination. They should spend about 15 minutes on the website each Thursday evening.  If you would like your child to be moved up a level, let us know and we will test them.

Talent Show:  The Talent Show is this Friday, May 25 at 1:30.  Tryouts will be this week.  If your child wants to be in the Talent Show, please email us by tomorrow, if you haven’t already.

Art in Action:  Thank you so much to all of the parents who helped with Art in Action this year!  We really appreciate your time and the kids loved it so much!

Kindergarten Post Office:  The Kindergarten Post Office is now open!  The students have been writing letters to their classmates and placing them in the class mailbox.  The children would really enjoy it if you would mail a note to the class or send one in and we can place it in the mailbox.  If you go on a trip, you can send us a postcard or if you just want to drop a note to the class and say hello that would be great, too.  They would really love the surprise!  The letters should be addressed to the whole class and not individual students. Thank you for helping to make this a fun activity for the class.  We will be doing this from now until the end of the school year.

Spirit Week:  This week is Spirit Week.  The schedule is as follows:

The teachers vs. 8th Grade kickball game will be that afternoon, followed by pie in the face.

Thursday-Sports Day. Students wear any sports top and school uniform bottoms.

Friday-Uniform Infraction Day. Students wear regular uniform, but can wear nail polish, any shoes, socks, jewelry etc.  The Talent Show is at 1:30.
