Announcements

DISMISSAL:
Children who go to daycare are picked up by the daycare staff after school.
Students picked up from the classroom are dismissed from the back classroom
door. Parents are welcome to sit on our bench while they wait for school to
let out; however I ask that parents please clear the bench as soon as the
final bell rings. As students are dismissed they are to wait on the bench
until they see whoever is picking them up from school. This is an important
procedure for students to learn because the teachers have after school duty
and need to have a clear visual of the
students who have not yet been picked up. Please keep the area outside the
door reasonably clear so that students can be safely dismissed.

HOMEWORK FOLDERS:
Over the first few weeks of school, first graders learn how to be
responsible for their homework folder. They will receive explicit
instruction and have time to practice turning in important papers to the
teacher along with turning in their homework assignments. Children take time
learning this procedure, so patience is necessary.
Parents can help their child by placing homework on one side of the folder,
and important papers on the other side. Talk with your child about what
papers need to be given to the teacher. Students should bring their homework
folder to and from school each day.
Please check the folder each night. Clean out any corrected work. Work that
is graded or has comments can be stored in a file folder for reference.
PLEASE do not leave graded work in the homework folder. This will help your
child keep their homework folder organized. THANK YOU!

SNACK AND LUNCH:
Please make sure that your child has a snack and a lunch every day. Please
remember to bring a snack every day, even if you have ordered a hot
lunch. Students get hungry, so please pack a snack on minimum days!

VOLUNTEERS:
Please remember that all volunteers must be fingerprinted and attend a Safe
Environment Training in order to participate in school events.

FIELD TRIPS:
In order to go on our field trips this year, we will need chaperones who
have been fingerprinted and have attended a Safe Environment
Training. Thank you so much to everyone who has
already been printed and attended a meeting!
