Dear parents,
Thank you all for your support of the four field trips taken last week. Those of you who chaperoned I thank you for helping care for the boys and girls. I thank all parents for your time in filling out the permission forms that seemingly never stopped coming home. Thank you for making the snacks and lunches in separate bags and thanks for the financial assistance for transportation and certain event costs. We'll take a break and get back into our everyday classroom lessons and routines. Then only one more field trip planned for next month. We will visit the San Diego Zoo. The founder of the San Diego Zoo, Dr. Harry Wegeforth, dedicated the zoo to the children of San Diego. In honor of this dedication, the free second grade program has been a
long-standing tradition at the zoo. The program includes a guided bus tour, a life cycle assembly, and an animal presentation. This will be the tenth consecutive year that I have taken my students on this field trip and it always proves to be a big hit with the kids and the adults. That last permission form will be coming home soon! We are allowed four free adult admissions as chaperones. However, we will take five chaperones. If someone has a San Diego Zoo pass or is willing to pay the entrance fee we can bring five chaperones. As always I will look at who volunteers to chaperone and will give preference to anyone who has yet to chaperone a field trip this year. After that there will be a drawing by a student for the remaining chaperones. Lastly, I want to thank all of you for assisting your child complete their Flat Stanley projects. All of boys and girls have made their presentations and it very interesting listening to all of them tell of their Flat Stanley adventures. We learned about a lot of exciting places around the country and around the world. Mr. Preston
