Please come out to the Spring Sing this Thursday evening at 6:30 in the Parish Hall. 7R is performing "Thriller." Also, don't miss the latest edition of
The Soaring Eagle Times, our school newspaper. Every student received a copy, and it will be posted on the school website. Several 7R students have written articles or appear in the stories and/or pictures. Please encourage your children to be part of Journalism Club next year. It is a great experience in both leadership and teamwork. We particularly need some eighth grade boys!
Wow! From the flowers to the cards to the gifts, the food, and everything else, I am feeling very appreciated. And what I appreciate most of all is the blessing of working with your kids and you as parents to help them grow into Christ-centered persons; active, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens. Thank you so much for all you do for 7R, for St. John School, and for me this week and always. God bless you. A very special thanks to Ann Schaefer and Do Borman who coordinated all the Teacher Appreciation activities.
Thanks also for the wonderful response to help at Graduation Dinner. It takes a village....
Our latest community service opportunities include buying a Team Ronan t-shirt for $20 to support the Nelson family. Niamh is an eighth grader here, and her brother, Ronan, is a sophomore a Cathedral Catholic. He suffered a serious spinal injury while playing rugby.
Also, there is another big fund-raiser scheduled Sat., June 9, the day after school gets out, in the afternoon at Cathedral Catholic High School. Your kids have received flyers about that rugby-related event that they are hoping will make the Guiness Book of Records. You need to go on the website listed on the flyer and sign up to pay with a credit card. Minimum donation is $10. See you there!!
Also, Spencer Fox (a sophomore at SDA who is confined to a wheelchair after a snowboarding accident) was recently featured in the North County Times because he is in a contest for an accessible van so that he can drive himself to rehab appts., etc. This would make such a big difference to him and his single working mom. Please vote daily for the next few weeks-- you can reach the link through
www.caringbridge.org/visit/spencerfox . Thanks for all you and your kids do to fullfill the Corporal Works of Mercy.
Thanks so much to all who have so generously volunteered their time and financial donations to make the Simple Supper a great success. We raised $1,333.00 for the St. John Food Pantry. I am so proud of 7R and all of the parents and others who helped.
May you all have a very blessed Easter season.
Please note: If I have finished grading papers, I do immediately update on HomeLogic, so grades are fairly up to date at all times. Please be sure to check on a regular basis because, often, students forget that they did not make up a test or assignment until it is long past.
