Dear Fifth Grade Parents, 

Welcome back to all returning families of St. Joseph of Cupertino School.  A very special welcome to our new fifth grade students:  Katherine Cervania, Shreya Kakulavarapu, Michelle Mallari and Kathleen Millendez and their families.  We are happy you have joined the St. Joseph of Cupertino community. 

We are looking forward to being the room parents during this school year.  We will need your help in supporting Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Moss and the children in the following ways: 

FIELD TRIPS – We have two planned field trips for the year at this time.  They are Westward Ho on October 27^th and NASA Exploration Encounter on January 21^st.  Each trip will require drivers to stay and assist.  Mrs. Miller will send out the permission slip as the trip gets closer.  If you plan to drive at all this year, be sure to send in the “Drivers for School Activities” form and submit a copy of your driver’s license and proof of insurance.  These all need to be in place before you can drive. 

CLASS PARTIES AND HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES – The scheduled class parties will include the Halloween Carnival, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day.  We will be asking for assistance in future letters to you. 

AUCTION GALA– One of SJC’s major fundraisers is the annual auction which will take place on March 27^th this year.  Our class will be asked to donate a themed basket.  You will be asked for a donation to help defray the cost of the gift basket items.  The children will also work on a class project to put up for auction.  We want to extend a huge thank you to Lisa Burns for volunteering to spearhead the class project for the auction.  She will need lots of helpers so look for information about that as we get closer. 

PURCHASE SCRIP – Please buy SCRIP to support the school and if you haven’t already done so, please register for e-scrip and renew your Safeway card.  Don’t forget to buy certificates for birthdays, gifts and Christmas!  It’s super easy and it helps the school.

• Happy Birthday Mrs. Miller (October 26^th)
• Westward Ho at History Park in San Jose.  This event is scheduled for October 27^th.

NOVEMBER

• Thanksgiving Feast (November 25^th)

      Each student will provide part of the feast, details to follow. 

DECEMBER

• Happy Birthday Mrs. Moss (December 1^st)
• Christmas Celebration (December 18^th)

Cupcakes/cookies and juice will be needed 

JANUARY

• NASA Exploration Encounter.  This event is scheduled for January 21^st.

 

FEBRUARY

• Valentine’s Day Party (February 10^th)

      Cupcakes/cookies and juice will be needed 

MARCH

• St. Patrick’s Day Party (March 17^th)

      Cupcakes/cookies and juice will be needed for the party. 

MAY

• Fifth Grade Retreat (May 13^th)

      Helpers will be needed.  Details to follow. 

JUNE

• End of the year Picnic (June 8^th)

We will be going to Ortega Park in Sunnyvale.  Drivers and Chaperones will be needed for this trip as wells as food and set up helpers.
