FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Can I send birthday invitations to school? A student may only bring invitations to school if the entire class is invited. It is also acceptable if a boy invites all the boys or a girl invites all the girls. Do I send in a class treat on my child's birthday? Children do not bring in treats for the class. Instead, SJC treats your child to a birthday ice cream, a birthday pencil, and birthday card!
How long should my child take to do homework? Third graders should take about 45 minutes for homework. This must include some time for studying. If your child takes much longer than that, there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Please see me about it. How often do you assign book reports? Book reports will vary throughout the year. Therefore, you need to check your child's homework sheet for further information. Generally, Reading, Spelling, and Religion tests are given on Friday. Chapter tests in subjects such as Math, Science, and Social Studies are given whenever we complete a chapter or unit. Quizzes may be given at any time. Should my child wear a swimsuit to the class picnic? There is no swimming pool at Ortega Park but there is a fountain where children can get wet. Children can wear suits under play clothes and bring a towel. This is also true for field day at school the day before the picnic. |
