Most objective tests receive percentage grades. "Essay" type schoolwork is given a Teacher-judgement grade based on a scale of 1-5 with 1 as the lowest and 5 as the highest. Often Spelling and Handwriting in writing projects will be judged as well. A rubric will usually accompany each writing assignment. Report card grades are the same scale as last year. Outstanding work means your child does very well on tests, classwork, and homework in that subject area. Successful means your child is succeeding in learning the content although some problems may exist. Needs improvement means your child requires extra help in that area in order to succeed.Back to Top
How long should my child take to do homework?
Third graders should take about 45 minutes for homework. This must include some time for studying. If your child takes much longer than that, there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Please see me about it.Back to Top
