How can I help my child at home?

Always read to your child every night. As your child's reading skills improve
have them read to you. While you are reading, stop frequently to ask them
questions about the stories that are read. Have them retell the story or tell
you about their favorite parts. When your child is reading, allow them to try
words that they get stuck on and encourage them to use their word attack
skills.
Review their reading vocabulary words alittle each night. Ask them to use
the words in sentences. Always make sure that your child knows what each word
means. It is important to review your child's weekly work packets, so that
you will have a good idea of your child's progress. Feel free to come and see
me about any concerns you might have about your child's progress.
