Mr. Allison’s Teaching Philosophy:
Students learn best in an environment where they feel safe and supported. I
create a learning
environment that encourages each student to participate in activities and to
do their best without
Fear of ridicule or taunting. I believe curriculum should be creative and
engaging and
appropriate for
A variety of learning styles. Students respond positively when challenged in
a variety of ways.
I also believe successful teachers are like coaches. A teacher helps to
prepare students for
life’s
challenges just as a coach helps to prepare his/her team for a game—by
providing them with
Requisite knowledge, skills and experiences to compete and achieve. As an
Athletic Director,
Physical
Education Teacher and Coach, I engage students in curriculum that challenges
their physical,
social
and emotional growth. I encourage students to push harder and go longer. I
encourage
students to
Work together and learn from each other. I encourage students to challenge
each other. A
curriculum comprised of cooperative, competitive and independent learning
experiences is how I
Motivate each student to realize his/her full potential.
Additionally, I participate in regular faculty and Root Share meetings to
ensure my curriculum
meets
all
Diocesan and St. Joseph’s guidelines, I attend CYO athletic meetings and
conferences to stay
up-to-
date on CYO rules, as well as interact with families to discuss student
expectations, provide
feedback
on students’ progress, and explore opportunities to enhance the physical
education program at
St.
Joseph School.
I am happy to be entering year six, as the Physical Education Teacher for St.
Joseph and I am
looking forward to another great year!
