May 21, 2012

Dear Parents,

While I have loved, and appreciated, every moment of this school year, I am sorry to say that I will not be coming back for a second year. I could not have asked for better support from you, as parents, during my first year of being a teacher. However, I have decided to seek employment in the Walnut Creek School District (my home town). Again, I appreciate you welcoming me to the St. Joseph’s School community, and I will miss it dearly as I move along to the next chapter of my life.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding,

Miss Fettig

Happy Birthday, Zayden!

May 14, 2012
The class voted on Muppets for Friday.  If anyone has the movie can you please e-mail me ASAP!  Thanks!  The movie is rated PG.  If this is a problem, again, please e-mail me ASAP because we will need to pick a new movie.

May 9, 2012
Happy Birthday, Amanda!

I am very grateful and thankful to all of you, and I just wanted you all to know that one more time.  I appreciate all the wonderful, and thoughtful, Teacher Appreciation gifts/cards.  I want you all to know that I appreciate you, and your children too!  It's been a wonderful school year and I can't believe we only have 21 more days to make more memories!
For Friday, the students are allowed to wear their school polos with jeans OR school shorts.
May 8, 2012
Thank you Mrs. Wama and Mrs. Sanchez for coming back into the classroom yesterday to finish up the nutrition lesson from Friday!

Parents,
Today Maurice Sendak passed away.  He is the author/illustrator for Where the Wild Things Are.  We read the book today, and with your permission I would like to show the movie next week during Spirit Week.  The movie is rated PG.  Please e-mail me if you are opposed to your child watching a PG movie.

Thank you in advance.

One last announcement,  the First Graders have pen pals in Spain (we have done A LOT of writing this year!).  I would love it if everyone could bring in a picture of their families, or at least themselves, to send to them in our next letters.  I will need the pictures by Monday, May 14th.  Please feel free to send in any other pictures your child would like to send off.   We talked about pictures of the city they live in, so they can see a bit of California.  Remember they will not be getting these pictures back.  A notice will be sent home in your child's Homework Folder too.

May 7, 2012
Don't forget your fruit/vegetable platter for today!

Thank you
Mrs. Zamorano
Mrs. and Mr. Korey
Mrs. Travalini
For planning, and implementing a wonderful First Communion Celebration for the Second Graders.

Thank you to all of those parents who came in this morning to help out with the set-up.  Your time is greatly appreciated.

Happy Birthday, Emily!

May 4, 2012
Special THANK YOU to Mrs. Wama and Mrs. Sanchez for helping with the nutrition lesson today!

May 3, 2012
Great Job First Grade!

The May Crowning went very well.

May 2, 2012
Today is a minimum day- dismissal at 12.
Also, it has been brought to my attention that the high frequency words on the newsletter do not match with the ones on the "Spelling" tab
Here are the high frequency words for the lesson:
answered
baby
done
heard
pools
pushed
together
I apologize!  I will be lenient on the spelling for this week since it was my mistake.
May 1, 2012- WOW! It's May already?

Our class will be needing two parent volunteers on Monday, May 14th, for the final nutrition activity.  If you are available please contact me via e-mail.  The times will be from ABOUT 2pm until the end of the school day.  We may need you a little bit before 2pm for some prep work!  Thank you, again, to those of you who have volunteered so far.  The students have been REALLY excited about the nutrition labs.

There is no need to draw pictures for the phonics homework.  You can skip that part.  I'm just looking at whether or not the students can change/make words.

April 28, 2012
Happy Birthday, McKenna!

April 27, 2012
Special THANK YOU to Mrs. Wama and Mrs. Tayag for helping during the nutrition lab today!  The lab went really well, thanks to them!

Happy Birthday, Anthony!
April 17, 2012
Free Dress tomorrow if your child brings in $1 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

March 31, 2012
Happy Birthday, Alana!

March 27, 2012
First Graders need to study/practice their addition facts.  They should have adding 0, adding 1, adding 2, and adding 3 facts memorized by now!  Perhaps they should make flash cards?  Maybe work on IXL some more?

March 26, 2012
Rice Bowls are due tomorrow!

March 23, 2012
Happy Birthday, Miranda!
March 19, 2012
OH NO!  It appears as though I neglected to put Chapter 7, Lesson 13 in the homework folders today (Thank you for checking in Mrs. Zamorano.)!!  With that said, she has nicely volunteered to scan both sides for me.  I will have it on the website, and she is e-mailing parents with the assignment.  I will also be sending the assignment home tomorrow, but please note that your child can still do it tonight thanks to Alejandro's mom!
Also, be sure to ask your child what it was like to have the Bishop at Mass for St. Joseph day today!
The homework has been added to the website, under the link to the left side titled, Chapter 7, Lesson 13.  Once again, thank you Mrs. Zamorano!

March 15, 2012
A couple brief (okay not so brief) announcements:

1.  The Bishop is coming to the school on Monday.  Therefore, all students must be in a clean uniform.  They may not use a free dress pass on Monday!  We have discussed behavior/uniform in class so the students are well aware of what is expected out of them.
2.  I hope the leprechaun visits your children at home.  We have been bringing back lots of memories of the leprechaun that came to our classroom last year.  I still have the letters he wrote to us!  I am very sad St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday this year.
3.  As you all have heard the auction is on Saturday.  Many parents have put a great deal of effort into such a fun, and wonderful event for the faculty and parents.  I am looking forward to it and I hope you are too.  I told the students about the auction items from our class, and they were THRILLED to say the very least.
They are well aware about the "Fred" platters.  I told them that four lucky students will get to go to the movies, and to the cheesecake factory with me (the questions about the outing were amazing!).  I also showed them the "Fred" quilt thus far.  I thought some of them were going to cry tears of excitement when they saw the quilt.  It made me really happy to see them so excited.  I also informed them that it would not be finished until the end of the school year, and they were very understanding that all of their classmates need a weekend with Fred before they get the quilt.
I am excited to see who wins what!!  I hope you are too...  See you tomorrow, and good luck to those of you who are helping with set-up!
March 7, 2012
Happy Birthday, Christina!

We are down to ZERO glue sticks!

March 5, 2012
Congratulations to Ethan!  He lost a tooth in school today!
Good Evening!  Some of the students were asking about the recipe for the  Dr. Seuss Oobleck Lab we did on Friday for science.  Here it is:
1.  Corn Starch
2.  Water
3.  Food Coloring (optional)
Combine the corn starch (about 1 1/2 cups) and water (about 1 cup) in a bowl.  Stir until it is slightly difficult to stir.  If it is not slightly difficult to stir, then add more corn starch.
Oobleck is a substance that is a solid and a liquid.  When it is still it is a liquid, but when you add heat (move it around in your hand), it becomes a solid.  It is actually quite interesting to play with and recommended for lots of ages!
March 1, 2012
Tomorrow is a special day in First Grade.  It is Dr. Seuss's Birthday! I spoke with the Principal and she said it would be okay for First Graders to dress in crazy, mismatched, clothes tomorrow.  I suggested that the students use a free dress pass on Friday, but now they will NOT have to use one!

I hope to see everyone in their Dr. Seuss finest!

Happy Birthday, Donovan!

February 27, 2012

I have placed a piece of white construction paper in your child’s homework folder.   Have your child think of their favorite Dr. Seuss book. If possible, read the book so they can remember all of the details/characters in the story. When they have picked out their favorite book, their next task is to decorate the white construction paper as a reflection of their favorite Dr. Seuss book. This needs to be in their folders, and completed by Friday, March 2nd. We will be doing an activity in class. If your child decides to do the project right away, please keep it in their homework folder so they will have it on Friday.

Note the black line on the paper. Please do not place any coloring/decorations in this margin. It will be covered up and I would like for everyone to see all of their hard work.

Thank you for your cooperation, and I hope they enjoy this project!

February 24, 2012
Happy Birthday, Jun!

February 11, 2012
Hello all!  We are in need of egg cartons that hold 12 eggs for a project we will be starting at the end of the month.  You can start bringing them in whenever you have an empty carton!  Thank you!  Have an egg-cellent weekend!

Congratulations to Mireille, who lost a tooth at school while I was gone!
February 5, 2012
Wow, what an exciting week last week!  I am still exhausted.  If you still have not received paper for the Black History Month project please let me know and I will put a piece in your child's Homework Folder.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

February 2, 2012
Happy Birthday, Alejandro!

January 31, 2012
Unfortunately, I was only able to pass out half of the students Black History Month Reports.    Not to fear, tomorrow is another day.  Everyone will have more than enough time to get the report done in time.  I have added a tab to the left-hand side of the website to ease your mind.  You can see that it is not as intense as some of you may have been thinking!  I will pass out the rest of the assignments to the students tomorrow as well as the paper for the poster.

Also, Thursday is the 100th day of school!  Don't forget to have your child bring in their glasses decorated with 100 "things".

January 27, 2012

I am still missing some signed progress reports.  If you have not turned them in, please do so ASAP.  They were due on Wednesday!

January 26, 2012
I am very concerned with the number of reading logs that have been turned in so far this trimester.  The reading logs are recorded and taken into consideration toward your child's homework grade.  More importantly, you and your child are setting up a foundation that will most likely last a lifetime.  One of the best things they can be doing for themselves academically, and the best thing you can be doing for them at this developmental stage is reading.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know.

The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

- Dr. Seuss

I have a couple more things that need to be cut out for the 100th day of school.  I would like them back by Monday so I can continue to prep the activities.

January 23, 2012
Happy Birthday, Gabbi!

January 12, 2012

Tomorrow is the big day!  I hope the students are just as excited as I am.
Drivers- Check the homework folder today/tonight.  There is important information regarding the field trip tomorrow! Thanks.
Congratulations, James!  He lost a tooth!

January 11, 2012

I will be sending home an extra form for you to sign regarding the booster seat law.  If you drop off or pick up today you can sign it right away!  I need the forms by tomorrow.  This is just to ensure that everyone knows about the law and will be providing a booster seat, if need be.

On Tuesday, January 17th, K-2 will be attending mass at 9am.  I will be at a meeting during that time.  I was wondering if a few people would be willing to come with our class to help out during that time.  Mass usually goes from 9-10ish.  If you are available please e-mail me.  I would love it if you could be here at 8:30am.

January 9, 2012
I wanted to get a head count of the students who need to be in a booster seat now that the law has changed.  If your child is now in a booster, please e-mail me ASAP!  I may need to make some changes in the cars.

Happy Birthday, Kaleb!

Tomorrow:  Please look in your child's folder.  The notice for Academy of Sciences ticket costs is going to be in there.  The total is $6.95 for students and $20.33 for adults.  We are getting a much better deal than the regular full priced tickets.  The sooner you can turn in the money, the better.  Although, every MUST turn it in by Thursday!  Thank you!

January 5, 2012
Congratulations, Christina!  She lost a tooth today!
January 3, 2012
Welcome back!

January 2, 2012
Happy Birthday, Brianna!

December 16, 2011
Happy Birthday, Yasmin!

December 14, 2011
Happy Birthday, Richard!

Congratulations First Graders on a job well done!  If you get a chance tell your child how proud I was of them last night.  They did a wonderful job singing and sitting during the rest of the performances.  They looked so nice in their Sunday best!

Just as a heads up the math worksheet that was sent home will be taken out of your child's homework folder and looked over tomorrow morning.  Please make sure your child has done their homework for both nights!  Thank you!!!

Lastly, I am looking forward to Friday and I know the students are too.  Thank you to the parents who are helping out.  The students and I are very grateful.  However, we still need more parent volunteers.  Unfortunately, only one parent has contacted me.  I understand that everyone is busy, especially around this time of the year, but if you are available we would love to have you come into the classroom and help out.

December 5, 2011
The spelling words and high frequency words for lessons 13-30 are under the "spelling" tab to the left.  You can also always find them on the weekly newsletter.

November 29, 2011
Happy Birthday, Brandon!

November 28, 2011
The spelling words can be found under the spelling tab.  Also, just to clarify there are no high frequency words this week.  Remember the students are doing the NEW spelling assignments as stated in the newsletter:

NEW Spelling Assignment- Our First Week!

Trimester 2 brings a change to the weekly Spelling assignment.  On Monday, your child should read and write the spelling words, AND high frequency words.  On Tuesday, your child should write five complete sentences using the first five spelling words.  On Wednesday, your child should use the second half of the spelling words to write five more complete sentences.  On Thursday, your child should alphabetize the spelling words AND take a spelling pre-test.  Please include the high frequency words in this spelling pre-test, as I will randomly select a couple words from this list for the Spelling test.

The list of spelling words, and high frequency words can be found on this newsletter, as well as the website.

November 18, 2011
It was wonderful seeing everyone last week for the conferences.  I used each of them as an opportunity to reflect on the trimester, and see what needs to be changed in the future.  One of them, as you know, is the spelling.  Some parents voiced their concern about the amount of homework.  I appreciate the feedback.  Here are some things that you can do at home to help with the amount of time the students are spending on the homework for this trimester:

1.  I am only concerned with what they know on the phonics pages, not how he or she can color, therefor feel free to have your child only circle the pictures on the phonics pages from here on out.  The phonics pages are an excellent tool to use, as it directly corresponds with what the students are working on in the reading groups.  Also, as a parent, this gives you a feel for what they are working on for the week.
2.  If I assign grammar pages, the students will not be responsible for doing the "write on" section on the bottom of the page.  If your child has extra time, and they would like to do the "write on" section, please allow them to do so.
3.  Again, the students should only be doing IXL.com for ten minutes each night.  If they want to go on until they finish the lesson, that is completely up to you as the parent.

Homework is meant to be an extension of what is being taught in the classroom, and for the students to also do some reflecting on what they learned about that day in class.  I understand that they are kids, and I do want them to be kids first.  With that said,  I believe that these changes will be a tremendous help to the time issue some of the students are facing.

On another slightly unrelated topic I see that ixl.com D.11 was difficult for some students.  Please do not worry about this.  The students did a wonderful job trying out these "challenge problems"!  You should congratulate them for a job well done!

November 16, 2011
It was brought to my attention yesterday that there was a typo on the high frequency words for the spelling activities.  The word "god" under the high frequency word heading should be "gold".    I apologize for the confusion.  This is also another reason why the spelling activities are changing AFTER THANKSGIVING.  I have decided to not introduce NEW spelling words next week, since it is not a full week.

Thank you!

November 15, 2011
The students will be going to the book fair today from 9:30-10:00.  I know they are all very excited!!

Happy Birthday, Matthew!

Congratulations to Natalie!  She lost a tooth in class!

November 9, 2011
As you all may have heard at this point our field trip has been changed from December 8th to December 2nd.  I went to purchase the tickets on Friday, after I received all of the forms, and they were completely sold out.  Not to worry though!  I absolutely have the tickets for the December 2nd show at 11am.  Thank you all for being so flexible.  I really do appreciate it.

Two important notices were sent home today.

One was the permission slip with the new date of the field trip.  You can ignore the bottom portion (driver/chaperone section), as we have enough of both for the new date (thanks again for being flexible).  It is only necessary to fill out the top portion.  The second notice was the conference form.  It is a reminder of your conference with the date and time.  The bottom part is meant to be filled out, and sent back to school.

Both forms are due ON MONDAY.  If you are able to fill them out tonight, and turn them in tomorrow that would be wonderful!  The sooner the better!

November 4, 2011
Just a quick, friendly, reminder about drop off in the morning... Please make sure you take your child through the front gate and not the extended care gate.  It is a safety issue, and the school wants you and your child to be as safe as possible!

Thanks for your cooperation!

November 3, 2011
We are still short drivers for the field trip in December.  I need to get the tickets ASAP, as it may sell out.  If you are able to drive PLEASE let me know!  We have plenty of chaperones.

Also, I have not had anyone e-mail me about volunteering for our "math celebration" activity that we are having tomorrow.  I am still planning on doing the activity, but it would be wonderful to have some more adult hands.

October 31, 2011
Happy Halloween!
Be Safe!

October 24, 2011
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF RED RIBBON WEEK!

Parents,
Please make sure your child only does about 10 minutes of ixl homework per night, if it is assigned.  I noticed that many students spent about 10 minutes on each assignment from last week.  Please do not hesitate to e-mail if you have questions or concerns regarding homework!

October 20, 2011
As part of the 10-20 minutes of reading tonight please read the "book" sent home today called, People and Pumpkins  .  Hopefully this book will get them more excited to learn about pumpkins tomorrow! There is also a very important final notice about the field trip that was sent home in your child's Homework folder today.

October 18, 2011
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a half day for students!  Enjoy!  Also, I just wanted to let you know again what the code was for the scholastic books so you can order online whenever you'd like!

J9TFC

Happy Birthday, Mireille!

October 14, 2011
Hello everyone!  Two very important pieces of information for you:

We are in desperation of one more chaperone for our field trip to the Clayton Valley Pumpkin Farm on Friday.  If you are cleared, AND available to go, PLEASE let me know ASAP.

With that said,  some of the parents who have volunteered to chaperone/drive are still not cleared.  If there is something that still needs to be done, livescan? insurance? etc. please be sure to get it done.  We are running out of time and I do not want to have to cancel our first field trip of the school year.

Congratulations to Christina, who lost a tooth today!

October 13, 2011
Happy Birthday to Hailee!

October 12, 2011
Tomorrow is a Free Dress day for everyone who participated in the Walk-a-Thon!  Congratulations First Graders!

October 11, 2011
First Trimester Progress Reports were sent home in your child's Homework Folder today.  Please look it over, sign and return to school within three days!

October 7, 2011
A couple people have asked for our scholastic book order code.  Here it is:

J9TFC

I encourage you all to order that way, after all, we are trying to stay as green as possible in First Grade :)

Remember that the forms for the Clayton Valley Pumpkin Farm are due today and the money for the parent drivers/chaperones needs to be turned in (Cash Only Please).

Thank you for your continued support and I hope you have a wonderful three-day weekend!

September 29, 2011
Prayer to the Guardian Angel will be lead by the First Grade students tomorrow during Morning Assembly/Meeting; hope to see some of you there!

Don't forget Oktoberfest is this Saturday and Sunday.  I am excited to see what this event is all about, as I have heard so much!

September 28, 2011
Please have your child line up outside before morning assembly.  Thank you.
Happy Birthday, Ethan!
September 27, 2011
Mrs. Ceja and I have been looking over all the paper work from everyone to make sure we have enough parents/guardians to go on field trips with us this year and we wanted to point out that ALL first grade parents/guardians MUST renew the Safe Environment Training this year.  There is still another meeting in the gym on Thursday, from 7-8:30.  There appears to be some confusion, so again, ALL parents/guardians MUST renew.  I also want to point out how important it is that we get volunteers for our field trips.  We need to be keeping in mind that the new rule states each car must have an adult driver and an adult chaperone.  That means that if every car can only hold 5 people we need 24 adults...

September 26, 2011
We do not need any more toilet paper rolls.  Thank you to everyone who brought them in!

The September Birthday Celebration is going to be held on Friday.  The parents and party Moms/Grammys will be starting set up at 11, while the students are still in their reading groups.  I will have them packed up and ready to go home so they can enjoy the party as long as possible.  It is important to keep in mind that the students need to finish their work before the party can begin!

EVEN THOUGH FOOD WILL BR PROVIDED, THE STUDENTS STILL NEED A SNACK!!!  It is important that they eat a little something during the morning recess.  PLEASE do not forget to pack something for your child!

One last announcement for the day (hopefully),  I taught the students the Prayer to the Guardian Angel and they have been asked to lead the prayer in front of the school on Friday during morning assembly.  I wanted to let you know so that hopefully you can make it that morning!  I know a lot of you are there in the mornings any way, but Friday will be extra special for the First Graders!

September 22, 2011
I just received an e-mail regarding the Walk-a-Thon, please read:

We are allowing until Friday, 9/23, for the final pledges to come in. I feel that it is only fair that I tell all of you what I told one teacher so that everyone knows the same thing. Your class needs 100% participation AND the highest average amount per person to win. To get 100% participation, each student in your class needs to give at least a 1-cent donation. There are several classes who are only missing a handful of student donations and it would be a shame for those classes to loose, even though they may have raised the most money. Since I made this suggestion to one teacher, I feel it's only fair that you all know and that your class has until Friday to get their final pledges in.

September 19, 2011
Thank you very much to those parents who took home "cutting" work for the students' activity on Friday.  Not only do I appreciate it, but I know the students will, and do too.  I believe the PTG is still collecting donations.  If you haven't yet, please turn in your pledge forms and money for the Walk-a-Thon ASAP.  Once again, thank you to the parents who took home grownup homework!

We are going to need 37 empty toilet paper rolls by October 3rd.  Start saving!  You can bring them into the classroom whenever you get a chance.

September 16, 2011
WALK-A-THON is TODAY!  Go First Grade!!!  Don't forget to wear to BLUE!

September 14, 2011
The pledge sheets and money for the Walk-a-Thon were due today.  If you were not able to bring it to school today please do so ASAP!  Hopefully the children were able to collect enough money so we can get a pizza party AND $200 for our class!  I still have one person who has not contacted me regarding a conference time.  Lastly, I want to thank all of you for being so supportive and cooperative for the past month or so since school has started.  Being a new teacher has its pros and cons, but all of you have made it a wonderful experience for me thus far.  THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

September 13, 2011
Again, the money and form that was sent home for the Walk-a-Thon is due tomorrow.  Our class color for Friday, September 16th is BLUE.   Students who are participating in the Walk-a-Thon get a free BLUE dress day.  It is not a free dress day for the students to wear whatever they would like to wear.  The students still need to be following the "Free Dress Day" description in the Parent Handbook.

Also,  I still have one parent who has not signed up for a conference time.  You need to e-mail me ASAP so we can work out a conference time.

Thank you!  Have a great week!

September 12, 2011
The class voted on blue for the Walk-a-Thon.  It can be any shade of blue.  They can wear it head-to-toe if they choose.  The $$$ needs to be turned in by this Wednesday, September 14, 2011!!!  Hope you've been collecting...

September 11, 2011
Happy Birthday, Kylie

September 8, 2011

A math worksheet has been sent home in your child's homework folder.  They are to do that instead of the originally planned IXL.com assignment.

Thank you!

September 6, 2011
I hope everyone has been collecting money for the Walk-a-Thon!!  If not, don't worry...you still have time!  Let's try and make the First Grade class the winners of collecting the most money.  Be sure to ask Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins...ANYONE!  Let them know that you are collecting money to fund St. Joseph's enrichment programs and school textbooks.  We should also be fond of the idea that we are getting outside and exercising.  It's a win, win in my grade-book :)

The students and I will be voting on a color tomorrow.  This color will be the color that our class will wear during the Walk-a-Thon on Friday, September 16th.

September 2, 2011
I realize that the weekend has begun, but if you happen to check the website please let your children know how impressed I am with their homework, reading group work and their spelling!

I received an e-mail informing me that First Graders have spent over 20 hours practicing math so far.  It seems as though they are really enjoying doing the math online.  I have looked at individual students and they have even been working on different activities that weren't even assigned yet.  Very impressive.

The reading group work that was completed this week was just as impressive.  I wanted to quickly point out that reading groups are not completely established as of yet and are subject to change at any given point.  I feel like there can be more done to ensure that the students will be getting the appropriate level of curriculum.  I don't want to frustrate the students, yet I also don't want them to be "bored".

Lastly, this week was our first spelling test of the year!  The students did very well on the test, which was wonderful to see.  As the weeks progress the words will get more difficult.  It may seem like the homework is redundant, but it seems to be working well.  As the year progresses students will be asked to do more difficult assignments with the spelling words.  Please note that we are easing into the school year.

August 31, 2011
Thank you to everyone who attended Back-To-School Night.  It was great to see all of you and it made me that much more excited about the school year.  To answer a couple of questions that were brought up (you may have the same questions):

The phonics books will be sent home with your child.  I had them ready to go in the closet and neglected to put them out on the tables (I knew something had to go wrong!).

As for the spelling, for this week please have the children write their spelling words on any type of paper.  A parent had a wonderful idea (Thank you!) to scan some paper that she found at a store for all of you to use for the spelling paper.  I have added a new tab entitled, "Spelling".  Here you can find the paper and print accordingly.  Starting next week please be sure to use that tab to find the spelling paper!!  Thanks again for the great suggestion.  PLUS it would take quite some time to order the paper.

Those of you who did not sign up for a conference time need to e-mail me ASAP!

Happy Birthday to Jason and Yonathan!

Once again, Thank you for attending Back-To-School Night.  I hope I didn't seem too nervous!

What a week!  Thank you to those parents who brought in treats for the August Birthday Celebration.  Happy Birthday to Logan and Congratulations to Christina for losing a tooth yesterday!

Our first Birthday celebration for the school year will be on Friday, no earlier than 11 please.   We will be celebrating all the students in the class who have August Birthdays!  I wanted to let you know that we will be needing plates/cups/forks etc. (whatever may be necessary for the celebration).  Thank you to those parents who are planning and/or bringing in a treat for the children.  We are all looking forward to it.

Starting tomorrow students will be able to unpack all of their stuff in the morning,  NO EARLIER than 7:30.  Lunch boxes/bags should be left on the blue bench against the outside wall of the classroom.  Homework folders, which need to come to and from school everyday, will go in the basket with the "Homework" sign.  Backpacks go in their cubbies inside of the classroom.  After they are unpacked they need to immediately head outside.  I told all of the kids the new procedure today, but I wanted to let all of you know too!

Also, a Reading Log was sent home in their homework folders today!  Sorry for not attaching!

I have added a new section or tab on the website entitled, "Help!".  I will post on here from time to time with things I may need help with, such as prepping an activity or a parent volunteer to help with an activity etc.  If you look and you think it is something you can help out with, please let me know!

Congratulations to Matthew who lost a tooth today!

Happy first day of school and Happy Birthday to Natalie!  I hope your children showed you the fun project we did during class.   I realize I neglected to attach the Reading Log to the homework.  I will send them home tomorrow or you can download one from the website, under the tab to the left titled Reading Log.

See you all tomorrow!
