About The Teacher
Dear Parents, I am happy to be starting my 12th year at St. Joseph School. I teach grades K-5 each week. I am at the school on Tuesday and Wednesday. I work with 6th to 8th grades for special occasions and for the annual Christmas Program. I have been teaching music to children for many years. I began when my own children were in pre- school and I followed them in their classes until I gradually added other grades at the request of their school. In 1988 I had an opportunity to attend a U.C.Santa Cruz summer course. It was an overview of the Orff Schulwerk process of music and movement education for children. It was a wonderful experience and , as it turned out, a life changing event. I had never played with music like that and I knew that my teaching would be changed from then on. I wanted to help children feel like I did. I went on to take the next three summer courses and obtained a level three certificate to teach the Orff Process.
