Dear Parents,
Novemebr is here. Cooler weather is on the way. Please be sure to send your student with a sweat
shirt, sweater, or jacket. Mondays we stand out front for morning assembly and many of the fifth
graders turn blue because they have no cover ups. Please allow time for the students to dry their hair
before coming to school. The students who come in with wet hair shake and shiver for hours in the
morning and have a really difficult time learning.
Conferences will be coming up soon. Please be making notes about any concerns you have for your
student and any goals you have for this second quarter. We will discuss what ever you need at the
conferences after the students have shared their progress with you.
Our first field trip is to the Heart of Jesus Retreat Center in Santa Ana. This is a wonderful day for
students to discover and learn about vocations. Permission slips will come home on Monday 11/2/09.
Please be sure to fill these out in detail and return by Wednesday 11/4/09. Students are required to
wear formal uniform for this field trip.
By the end of the month students will have the rubric for their state float. This is a really fun
experience for both parents and students. Enjoy, have fun, but please do not spend over $10.00 max
for supplies. In the past many parents have grouped together and gone to Home Depot and purchased
a large sheet of styroform and cut it up and shared the expense. This might be an option for you. Use
your imagination to create buildings, geographic and topographic elements for your state. Your
imagination and inginuity are the only limits.
I am looking forward to seeing you during the student led conferences November 20th,23rd, and 24th.
Have a wonderful month. Don't you just love fall, the cooler weather, leaves, wind, etc.
God Bless,
Pat Ritter
