First Grade Friends Newsletter

First Grade Friends May 21-25, 2012 Volume 37

Dear Familes,
This week we will complete our reading series for first grade. Congratulations to everyone on your
hard work this year with reading! We will continue reading our A-Z readers for the rest of year.
Please plan on reading with your child throughout the summer. This is crucial for their success in
second grade.

We need nice, smooth rocks for painting on Craft Day. If you have time to collect some please send
them to school by Thursday, June 7. If you would like to help with Craft Day on the afternoon of June
8 please send me an email.

Field Day is this Friday. I hope you can join us for this day of fun! On Friday afternoon we will have
our Jog-a-thon prize rally. The children may wear free dress on field day. Play clothes are
encourages and sunscreen is advised as well. A hat is also allowed.

In math this week we are working on adding numbers up to 50. We continue to practice with
subtraction from numbers of 20 or less.
