About The Teacher
HI! My name is Bethanny McGuire and I am so excited to be teaching at Stella Maris Academy this upcoming school year! I come from a long line of teachers (I'm the 4th generation teacher in my family) and have known since I was in 6th grade that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. I was born in Chicago, IL but have lived in San Diego since I was five years old. I was raised in Rancho Penasquitos and attended public schools in the Poway Unified School District graduating from Mt. Carmel High School. After high school I attended Purdue University and later California State University San Marcos where I received my secondary credential. I taught exclusively at the high school level at Valley High School in Escondido, as well as my alma mater, Mt. Carmel High School. I loved my experiences at both schools but they don't even begin to compare to my first year at Stella Maris Academy. I had such a fantastic first year at SMA and I can't wait to start this new school year! Some additional facts: I LOVE dogs! I have two babies, Tito, a six year old Chihuahua and Zoey, an 8 month old English Bulldog. I got married in Ireland (My whole family, including my in-laws are Irish) I LOVE to travel My favorite book is East of Eden by John Steinbeck I love music...my ipod is always on me and my favorite band right now are The Black Keys
