Homework

Homework is an extension of the activities done in class. It may
also be a preparation activity for the next day's lesson. I try
to provide students with the opportunity to manage their own time and
responsibilities, therefore I post work for the week to accomplish this
goal.
However, I may make changes as we go depending on how we were able to
carry out the objectives and goals for each day.

At the beginning of EVERY class, students need to check the Homework wall
in class and enter any changes to their Pride Planner for that day.
Students
that are asked to do work over or who do not finish classwork will have to
enter that specific work in their planner. It won't be entered on this
page.

Reading every night for 30 minutes is expected and it is recommended that
students read their AR books.
AR policy: Required points are individualized per trimester. I require
1/2 of their goal points due per
grading period (EVERY SIX WEEKS.)
The level students read is based on their STAR test score and it is
up to them to find those books and have their parent approve. This is a
quiz/project grade and it is very important.

AR Due Dates (for my class, and subject to change per announcement):
Sept. 12
Oct. 24
Dec. 14
Feb. 09
April 6
May 18

NO NAME papers will be considered missing, please remember your PROPER
HEADING on
every assignment.

Late Pass Policy: Students may
turn in a late work with Parent signature only.
IMPORTANT:
If students have completed a late assignment on STUDYSYNC, then they must
submit it online and ALSO print it out and have it signed by a parent.

Parents may want to establish what they feel is an appropriate
limit for late work. I believe we need
to teach students to become quality citizens and raised with the awareness
of being
accountable for their choices. That said, students should be in the good
habit of
turning in work on time. Therefore, the consequence for untimely work is a
lower grade and lower citizenship marks.

UPCOMING Tests, quizzes, and/or projects:
Project in SS- Religion Brochure due Friday 12/8

LA: TEST on Roll of Thunder Hear My CCry TBA

SS: Quiz 4-2 Friday 12-08
TEST/QUIZ CORRECTION POLICY: All tests and quizzes can be corrected for up
to
70%. Students must attach their original test to their complete answers,
(Incorrect questions are written out on a separate paper and answered
completely.) If there is a book, they will need the page and paragraph
number of the location of the answer.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COMPLETING HOMEWORK AND GENERAL STUDY:
Studies have shown that students who review and reflect on all class
lectures retain at
least 30% more of the information.

STUDY SYNC: Any written assignments should be done on a Google Doc so that
data
might be transferred to the StudySync site as needed. Unless requested, do
all Access
4 pages on loose paper or on a printed out copy of the page downloaded and
printed
from your home computer.

VOCABULARY: Complete 2 or 3 words on the template guide each night with a
review
of the previous night's words. By Thursday, have all words done on
templates and then
have your parents give you a quiz on them. Relearn any missed words.

GRAMMAR: (if assigned) Daily Grams are intended to work on during Homeroom
class.
However,
you may choose to work on them on your own time, with the work done by
Social
Studies class each day. If you have specific questions, Google/YouTube
concepts until
we review them in class. There will be quizzes at various times.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Always reread the section and make notes based off of
topics
covered in class. Putting the page numbers next to the answers will help
you study for
the quizzes and tests. Review the vocabulary words and concepts for each
section.
