How much homework will my son/daughter have every night?

Math students can expect homework nightly, quite often on weekends also. It
is important students practice what they have learned in the class to help
them retain the information. Math homework should not last longer than 45
minutes-1 hour.

Science homework is given out on Mondays and due back of Friday of every
week. Students should work on science homework at least two nights per week
for about 45 minutes. They can choose what days they want to work on the
homework in order to accomodate their busy schedules and other
projects/assignments.

What's the best way to contact the teacher?

Email is my preferred method of contact. Sometimes the Internet has been
down and I'm unable to receive/respond quickly. If you are needing an
urgent response it is best to call me during my prep period, 2nd period
(9:35-10:29.
408-522-8288. I'm also available before and after school.

Can my student turn in late assignments?

Students can turn in missing assignments (less credit) before the end of the
quarter.

Do you give extra credit?

Not very often. I want student grades to reflect what they know. Sometimes
I will offer extra credit opportunities on tests and before grades are
reported to help give some students that extra little bump up to the next
level.

Is there a math/science tutorial?

I'm starting a new math tutorial/study session available for all my
students. I will post dates as soon as possible in the calendar and
homework section. All students are encouraged to attend this tutorial as I
will be releasing a few early test questions along with guided notes,
practice problems and any extra help they may need. I will try to provide
healthy snacks and drinks, but it is recommended each student bring their
own. Tutorials will begin promptly at 3:15 and last until 4:00. Students
arriving late will not be admitted due to the distraction it causes other
students.

There is a science tutorial but it is with Ms. Boothe. I will update with
her schedule asap.

Is there a class wish list?

Yes! It is located under the supplies link from the main homepage. Any and
all donations are gladly accepted to help all students. These donations are
donated to A-3 class and all students will greatly benefit.

Are there opportunities to volunteer?

Yes! I always love volunteers to come help organize the classroom, post new
bulletein boards and post student work. Sometimes all the grading and
lesson planning can be overwhelming and it is nice to have parents and
students volunteer in the classroom. It's best to make an appointment
either before school or after school.

There are also opportunities to help volunteer for our field trips. Please
keep an eye out for all future permission slips asking for volunteers. We
always need chaperones.
