We know we're a few days late on this, but we've FINALLY posted the 5 Finalists for our Best Website contest on our Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/TeacherWebInc
. You have from now until midnight next Wednesday, May 22nd, to vote on your favorite. The winner will receive a free year of TeacherWeb, and the 4 runners-up will get $15 Starbucks giftcards, so vote wisely! The Finalists' websites are posted in their own photo album on our Facebook page, so check those out first, visit the sites, click around, then come back and vote via our poll.
Thanks for your participation - we were amazed by all the entries and fantastic websites that we got to review, and if you didn't end up in the Top 5, know that it's because there are so many stellar educators out there using our products to reach their students and families that it was almost impossible for us to choose.
Thanks again,
The folks at TeacherWeb

Mission Label:
Mission
Our class is centered around The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids. We, the class, create a learning atmosphere that engages each person's strengths, and we face challenges that help us grow as people. One goal in 6th grade is to teach organization. This includes using planning on a calendar; monthly, weekly, and daily. This also includes breaking down long term assignments into manageable pieces so students can give proper time and energy for a solid product. Another goal is for students to learn communication skills with teachers, home, and peers since our world is built around global interactions. Sometimes the communication is pleasant and friendly, and sometimes, students need to use words to empower themselves or practice tolerance. We use Class Meetings to practice appreciation, seek peer assistance with problems, and learn how to make "I" statements in proactive friendships. In the area of instruction, Common Core Standards are the driving force behind instruction in our class. I am committed to project based instruction (UbD) and differentiation. Each student learns to build upon his/her Multiple Intelligence strengths and access Higher Order Thinking skills. One core tenet of my teaching belief is that each person can access her/his potential when given love and expectations. It is through effort and risk-taking anything is possible: We never give up. Mistakes and failure teach as much as success. The process of learning, as well as the outcome, is central to education in my opinion.
