May 31: Romeo and Juliet ~ Give a 30-line monolog of your choice of
character. Also type out the paraphrase for your speech, line-by-line. Be sure
to avoid repetition of words and to use synonyms that support the same
meaning/message as intended by Shakespeare.
May 23: Romeo and Juliet - Type last night's Quote Analysis for the
four quotes of Friar Laurence, Mercutio, Romeo, and Juliet; next, proofread
and revise your quotes' analyses; last, print out a final copy.
May 22: Romeo and Juliet ~ Write out an S.O.E.V. transition into the
quote with a two-sentence CMA for the four quotes written on the front board.
May 18: Romeo and Juliet ~ Type and print out the monolog you will
recite from Romeo and Juliet. Include the Act, Scene, and Lines for
your character. On the left-hand side of the margin, number each of your lines
from 1 through 30. You can go to:
http://Shakespeare.mit.edu/Romeo_Juliet/full.html and copy, paste, and print
out the specific lines for your character monolog.
May 16: Romeo and Juliet ~ Find five quotes to support the Plot Diagram
of Act I. Each quote should be two lines and you should cite the Act, Scene,
and Line Number for your choices of Exposition, Rising Action, Turning Point,
Falling Action, and Resolution. Also find three conflicts within the plot of
Act I and write them down with Act, Scene, and Line Number.
May 14: Romeo and Juliet ~ Write bullet points of the characters'
conflicts & motivations and specific plot details for the Plot Diagram's
Exposition and Rising Action stages covering the pages 7-34.
May 9: Academic Word List: Write a sentence for the vocabulary words Individual
- Vary; write each word 2x, and write a definition for each word.
May 8: Romeo and Juliet - Paraphrase the 14-line "Prologue" by using
synonyms for each of the words in the lines. Use strong description and
emotion words!
May 7: Romeo and Juliet ~ Complete the 11 questions found on the
worksheet "A Look at Shakespeare's London" by citing specific details from the
worksheet. Also, read about the life of Shakespeare on page xxv of your Romeo
and Juliet book and write bullet points of the key details about
Shakespeare's life.
May 3: Academic Word List: Write a sentence for the vocabulary words Analyze
- Indicate; write each word 2x, and write a definition for each word.
Apr. 30: Dragonwings ~ Read pages 205-224 and in the 1st person as
Father, write a paraphrase of the key events that occur. Your response should
be 22 sentences; for 2 of the sentences, select two quotes from the book that
support/reinforce your paraphrase and write them into your 1st person
response. Proofread your work out loud and check for spelling, grammar, and
clarity. :)
Apr. 27: Unit 5B Spelling words ~ Write words 26-50 2x each, write the
definition 1x, and write a sentence for each of the words. Test on these

Apr. 25: Unit 5A Spelling words ~ Write words 1-25 2x each, write the

the whole sentence/answer for each of the frames.
Apr. 17: Select two topics from the handout and write an 8-sentence Power
Paragraph for each topic. Remember to use the List of "Do Not Do's" for
writing that we composed in class today! While proofreading out loud,
make edits and revisions to your work, and then reprint a final copy with
these incredible changes. Bring all copies to class. :)
Apr. 16: Select three separate topics out of the 15 topics available on the
handout provided in class and write a short Power Paragraph of two Concrete
Details ~ (8 sentences). Print out your rough draft, proofread, edit and
revise your rough draft, and then print out a new final copy. Bring all copies
to class.
Apr. 5: Type a Power Paragraph of 11 sentences in which you describe/explain
three positive ways of dealing with stress. Print out your Rough Draft copy,
make corrections/edits on it, and then type your new improvements and print

Apr. 4: Write a Power Paragraph of 11 sentences in which you focus on the key
details obtained from the Assemly held today. Please use three C.D.'s about
what you gained as insights.
Apr. 3: Choose one of the two editorials discussed in class and type an
MLA-formatted Power Paragraph of the Pros and Cons surrounding the topic
(Banning the Food Trucks OR Ending the Lifelong Parole of Juveniles). Your
paragraph should be 20 sentences.
Mar. 30: Groundwork Vocabulary ~ Chapter 17 ~ Pages 130-135. Test on
Chapters 16 and 17 vocabulary words (20 words).
Mar. 29: Type a Power Paragraph about Mother from Dragonwings and use
four CD quotes to support her personality, a conflict, a motivation, and a
consequence in her life. Your paragraph should be 14 sentences.
Mar. 27: Type a Power Paragraph for Chief Joseph (protagonist) and a Power
Paragraph for Montressor (Antagonist) in which you state three CD's to support
the personality of the person/character with specifics from his life/the plot.
Each paragraph should be 11 sentences.
